Kristen Shanahan has long been one of the most talented lacrosse players on Long Island. She committed to Notre Dame as a Freshman playing for Sachem East. Currently she is playing field hockey, and dominating Suffolk County.
Kristen is leading the county in points thus far this season with 36, 21 goals and 15 assists. She has her Flaming Arrow team off to an undefeated start to the season. The 15-0 start does not come as a surprise to anyone who follows the program, last year they successfully pulled off an undefeated conference season before suffering their first and only loss to Williamsville North in the State Playoffs. Shanahan led the county in scoring a year ago and this year the team may just the run table.
Kristen’s excellence in field hockey field is outdone only by her lacrosse talents. The Notre Dame commit is a special talent. Coming off 69 points last year Kristen is looking to top herself during her senior year. The team went 8-9 (7-7 in conference) during Shanahan’s junior year, and does not want to end her time as a Flaming Arrow with back-to-back losing seasons. She looks to come back with a vengeance, and to prove all the doubters wrong before she heads off to South Bend. Even before that, she took the time to answer some questions for us.
