One of the best tournaments in all of lacrosse is coming back to Long Island. Read more about the 2020 Gains For Brains tournament.
Starting in 2015 Cold Spring Harbor High School has been the host to one of the biggest showcases of girl’s lacrosse. The Gains For Brains event features top teams from the tri-state area playing for a cause bigger than lacrosse. The tournament’s mission is to raise awareness for the Making Headway Foundation. The Making Headway Foundation is an organization that assists children diagnosed with brain or spinal cord tumors. The foundation started over 20 years ago and has been constantly working to fund research and promote awareness for impacted children and their families. Andy Rapapport of News 12 Long Island established the tournament as a way to bring even more awareness to the foundation through girls lacrosse. During the first four years of the games over $45,000 were raised for the cause. The event is continuing to grow, this upcoming year the field is expanding to 16 teams. The event is truly special and all proceeds go towards a fantastic cause. The tournament will take place in April, but if you would like to donate now click here.
