Young Gun Feature; Griffin Cole

Griffin Cole is a player on the rise. The Chaminade defenseman’s great speed and athleticism makes it quite difficult for any offensive player to get to the net. The Flyers head into the 2021 season with high expectations, and Cole heading into his junior season looks to take his game to another level and be a leader of the team’s defense. Looking ahead he has the desire to continue to play at the collegiate level and hopes to soon know where his future home will be. Check out more about Griffin down below as he recently spoke with the LILJ.

Q. What would you say is your best attribute you bring to the lacrosse field?

A. I think my size, my speed, my athleticism, and my stick skills each make me an asset on the lacrosse field.  However, it is probably my inner desire to succeed that is the best attribute because it is this desire that motivates me to do all that is necessary to help me personally, and my team to collectively be our best.

Q. Is there any specific part of your game that you worked on improving over the summer?

A. I’m always looking to bring my game to the next level. And so, I continually work on critical things like strength training, my stick and agility drills. This summer was no different.  But, I added in endurance training and distance runs.

Q. If you plan on playing in college, have you thought about where you might want to play?

A. I would really like to play the game I love at the collegiate level. Because I take seriously my academics, in an ideal world I could play lacrosse at a top academic institute.

Q. As you get ready to begin your junior season, do you see yourself taking on a leadership role either on defense or the entire team?

A. Absolutely! It was so disappointing to see my sophomore season on Chaminade’s Varsity team cancelled.  I cannot wait for the 2021 season and am eager to get back out there with the Flyers’ Defense!

Q. How do you feel about Chaminade’s team heading into the 2021 season?

A. I’m excited about the 2021 season. We have a depth of talent in all positions and I anticipate a success season.  I’m counting the days until we start back up.
