Committed Spotlight; Charles Balsamo

Chaminade’s Charles Balsamo has a natural ability to score. As one of the top ranked players in the class of 2022, he has committed to Duke University where he will be suiting up for the Blue Devils. Playing for an elite high school lacrosse program in Chaminade will help him be even more prepared to play at the college level for one of the top lacrosse programs in the country. Balsamo is a team first player and his main goal is to help his team win both ACC and National Championships. Read more about the future Duke Blue Devil down below as he recently spoke with the LILJ about his commitment.

Q. What is it about Duke that made you feel that’s where you want to play in college?

A. The combination of the academic and athletic excellence is what made it clear that Duke was the best place for me. Also the overall campus experience is very special and that is where I want to attend college and play for four years.

Q. How do you feel your skill set will fit into the Blue Devil’s offense?

A. The Duke program has tremendous talent and depth, and many players who I very much look forward to playing with in college. I will work harder than ever the next two years and will continue to train in order to enhance my game. I’m confident that my position-less offensive skills, team-play, competitive edge, lacrosse IQ, and ability to score will allow me to contribute to the team in positive ways.

Q. Do you feel that playing against such elite competition in high school will help you become better prepared to play at the college level?

A. Absolutely, Chaminade is one of the top high school programs in the country and the scheduled competition, St. Anthony’s and others, are among the best nationally.

Q. What are some of the goals that you would like to accomplish playing at Duke?

A. I want to make smooth transition my first year and aim to contribute as a Freshman. I am all about team-first, so my goals are ACC and National Championships. I have my eyes set on being the best player that I can be and strive to be an All-American and Tewaaraton Winner.

Q. Looking ahead, what are you most looking forward to when you take the field as a college athlete?

A. I’m most eager to join the Duke team which is full of excellent players in every position, to play for the greatest coaches in the college game, to put on my Blue Devil uniform, to represent Duke University, and to play in Koskinen Stadium.
