Class of 2022 Boys
Ryan Downing (2022, Defense, Smithtown West)- Quinnipiac: Downing is an absolute beast for Smithtown West. An unprecedented pairing of size and strength allows the defender to barrel through the opposition. He has a great feel for the game and surprising speed has helped with convert on the opposite side of the field. Look for this lockdown talent to have a stellar season in 2021.
Matthew Byrnes (2022, Attack, Chaminade)- Sacred Heart: Chaminade’s Byrnes is a crafty attackman who never fails to entertain. With great footwork and stick skills, the junior can often make scoring seem effortless. He will be joined by a stacked offensive roster, but don’t be surprised if Byrnes makes a splash this year; the recent Sacred Heart commit is certainly one to look out for.
Class of 2022 Girls
Jordyn Behar (2022, Attack, Wheatley)- Arizona State: Speedy, agile, and accurate, recent Arizona State commit Jordyn Behar is one of the best scoring threats on Long Island. She put on an absolute clinic last year with 60 goals and 63 assists, numbers that impress on any level. The Wheatley junior steps into a crucial leadership role come the new season; with that said, she is known for her teamwork on and off the field. Expect her to do more of the same this season.
Tess Orgonas (2022, Midfield, Bayport)- LIU Post: Orgonas will step into a much greater role for Bayport Blue Point in 2021. The junior is known for her team-first mentality and has shown her worth at both the midfield and faceoff positions. Orgonas possesses great vision and movement on the fast break. The recent LIU Post commit and is set to be an asset to the school’s team in the coming years.
Class of 2021 Boys
Patrick Selhorn (2021, Attack, Wheatley)- Stony Brook: Patrick Selhorn is scary on offense. The Wheatley senior will play a huge role in his team’s offense after an already-stellar 2019 campaign. The stats speak for themselves; 25 goals and 22 assists along with All-Conference Honors. With significant size and speed, the Stony Brook commit will surely do more of the same in 2021.
Conner Gallagher (2021, Defense, Northport)- Cortland: Recent Cortland commit Gallagher is fast, agile, and never afraid of the big moment. The Northport defender uses this surprising speed to his advantage, as he is known to be a pace-maker for his team. Gallagher often no problem locking down his defender and bringing the ball all the way down the field. Expect him to impress during his senior year.
Joe Scopo (2021, LSM, Middle Country)- Davis & Elkins University: Scopo is a lockdown LSM. The recent Davis & Elkins University commit invites hard contact, using surprising strength and lacrosse IQ to benefit his team. His pairing of speed and passing ability also shines in his play; he will be essential to the success of his Middle Country team and serve as one of their lockdown defenders.
Matthew Barnett (2021, Attack/Midfield, Chaminade)- Salve Regina University: Matthew Barnett is the newest Chaminade player to bring his talent to the next level. The senior recently committed the Salve Regina University and is set to make an impact on the team for years to come. His great passing/scoring ability and agility should serve as a backbone to his team’s stacked 2021 roster.
Hugh Keenan (2021, FO/Midfield, Garden City) – University of Tampa: Midfield Hugh Keenan will make an impact for Garden City in 2021. The senior joins the stacked roster as a cunning and agile threat whose hard-nosed mentality has proven to be a problem for the opposition. His talent will most likely be used as the team’s face-off specialist in 2021; look for the University of Tampa commit to surprise next year.
