New York State Regionals and Epoch Lacrosse are working together to promote the best lacrosse players in New York

Many New Yorkers remember the Empire Games where the best amateur lacrosse players in New York would compete to see who truly was the best region. After that was discontinued, the New York State Regionals and dozens of high school coaches put hours of effort into re-birthing the Empire Games. Thus, the New York State Regional Championships were born and in this article we will talk about the tournament and how Epoch is personalizing this highly anticipate tournament.

This tournament runs for three days from July 20th-July 22nd. Before the tournament, players from each region must tryout in their respective area. The eight boys regions are Nassau, Suffolk, Nassau-Independent, Suffolk-Independent, Hudson Valley, Central, Adirondack, and Western; and six girls regions are Nassau, Suffolk, Hudson Valley, Central, Adirondack, and Western. Later in this article we will break down the exact tryout dates for each region.

Each region will have four teams separated by the players graduation year. Players that are graduating in the years 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2022 are eligible to tryout and can not tryout in the grade above or below. This year will be the third installment of the boy’s tournament and the first installment of the girl’s.

This year will be the biggest event to date because the Long Island Lacrosse Journal will also be covering this three day tournament. Along with player interviews, the LILJ will bring professional coverage to the event with live streaming games and commentary during the stream. There will be game recaps similar to the recaps we have made throughout the high school lacrosse season on Long Island. For the majority of the players not from Long Island, this event will provide with experience dealing with media. Something most of these athletes will have to get used to when they move on to the collegiate level.

Epoch Lacrosse has fully integrated themselves into the event to help promote the New York State Regionals Championships. If you follow the high school lacrosse season on Long Island, you will know that Epoch is a vital aspect to the season. We at the LILJ announce weekly match-ups that are Epoch Games of the Week. Epoch is kind enough to provide apparel like shafts and heads to the player of the game for the Epoch Games of the Week.

Not only does Epoch Lacrosse provide merchandise for high schoolers, but top college and professional players rep Epoch Lacrosse attire. Just in the month of April, Epoch signed two top professional lacrosse players, Tom Schreiber and Ryland Rees because they said they love Epoch’s technology and gear.

Epoch used to provide each region custom gloves for the boys, but now that the girls are participating this year, Epoch will be providing something that both boys and girls can rock. This year, Epoch is making custom shafts and swag that represent each region uniquely. Personally, I am jealous of all the players who will be rocking this shafts because they are sick! Being from Rochester, the Western shaft is my favorite. We will show these shafts off in this article along with dates and locations of the region’s tryouts.
