LILJ Boys Winter Box League Recap: Week 3

After a few weeks off for the holidays the Boys LILJ Winter Box League was back in action for week three. The two games in the bantam league were competitive, while the high school league games were both decided by three goals or less. Here is a recap of how all four games were decided.

Bantam League ‘BBL’

Turtles vs. Igloo

The first game of the day the Turtles picked up their second win of the season by defeating Igloo 8-4. On the offensive side Alex Miglino scored three goals which was a team high. The two goalies for Turtles Jack Amato and Brogan Casper each recorded five saves in the win. Igloo got scoring contributions from four different players, and four ground balls from Paul DiBlasi.

Trainwreck vs. Express

Express had the task of trying to stop Trainwreck who entered the game 2-0. They gave it everything they had but Trainwreck was able to make it 3-0 on the season with a 14-7 win. This was a well balanced performance on the offensive end for Trainwreck. JJ Damo, Cooper Harley, and Greg Wyckoff all scored three goals. Matthew Constable also added two goals, and the four players combined for 10 ground balls. Gavin Snyder led Express with three goals and three ground balls.

High School League ‘WBL’

Jr. Riptide vs. Bing Bong

The Jr. Riptide came into this one short-handed so Bing Bong sent a few players their way. Bing Bong was still able to take this one by a score of 17-14. Patrick Touchy scored six goals for Bing Bong which was the most by anyone on either side. Mike Leo also put two goals through the net. One of Bing Bong’s players who was playing for the Jr. Riptide was Max Hawkinson who scored five goals in the game. The win for Bing Bong gives them a perfect 3-0 record on the season.

Syosset Winter Red vs. Syosset Winter Black 24/25

The two Syosset teams squared off in the final game of the day. This one was decided by one goal, with Red taking this one 12-11. Black had a narrow lead in this one but were unable to hang on for the win. The red team was led by Dylan Stadler who had three goals, one assist, and two ground balls. The black team came up short, but got a tremendous offensive showing from Luca Accardo who rattled off seven goals to lead either side. The win for the red team gives them their first win of the season, while black is still in search of their first win.
