On Monday the Supreme Lacrosse Academy hosted its third high school tuneup session for girls laxers coming from across the island which saw nearly 80 in attendance. Tailored for players in graduating classes of 2030-2026, this training series led by St. Anthony’s Girls Assistant Coaches Corey Winkoff and Christian Michaels is designed to help them prepare to play at the varsity level in the spring by being in a competitive atmosphere learning team oriented, up-tempo drills and sets. In addition to the varsity preparation and the opportunity to continue to better their skills, players are also seen by the Long Island Lacrosse Journal as well. Below is a recap of the different stations and drills that were the focal point of this session, as well as the attendees and the MVP’s of the day!
Skill Stations
Purpose

- Playing picks in different ways
- Clearing using both sides of the field
Navy Transition
Purpose
- Quick 5v4 Transition to a 7v7
- Playing off the defensive slides
- Rotating and communicating
- Getting on cutters and playing team defense
7 Spot
Purpose
- Finding the 2v1
- Not letting 1 play 2 off-ball
- Skipping to score
- Contact on-ball
- Getting in passing lanes off-ball
- Being in true v off-ball
Goalies
Purpose
- Goalie Bird Dog- Stepping to 5 spots
- Bad Andy- Working on making saves off balanced and at a high speed
