Fighting till Mother Nature called the game, the Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms defeated West Babylon by a final score of 11-4.
After two huge saves from Felicia Giglio, the Phantom Girls were off and running on a 4-0 streak as Mairead Kelly and Maddigan Miller racked up two goals a piece before Lacey Downey stopped the bleeding. Alexandra Fusco and Olivia Vergano traded goals and Fusco notched her second goal to end the half.
Then in the second half, the Phantoms kept up the pressure as Miller grabbed her third and fourth goals as they went up 8-2. Downey snuck one in before Keira Rooney, Fusco and Shannon Jones rallied again to bring the final score to 11-4 as thunder and lightning stopped the game.
Bayport, in a shortened game, displayed the fearlessness and ferociousness that has them as the top team in all of Suffolk. West Babylon played the best they could but it was simply not enough.
