At number 24 in the LILJ top 25 preseason rankings are the Wildcats of Shoreham-Wading River from Suffolk Class C. This is a team that is accustomed to making deep playoff runs and have appeared in at least the county championship game the last three years. They are coached by Mike Taylor who has been the head coach for the last 11 years. The team had a number of graduates in the 2024 class and will now begin to turn the page to some of their younger players that will be expected to have a big impact.

The Wildcats offense does return junior Richmond commit Andrew Cimino who scored 30 goals with 9 assists from the midfield last season, but they also have two underclassmen in Noah Gregorek and Lucas Diamond who will be very key in the success of their offense. Gregorek is one of the top players in the 2028 class, and he didn’t shy away from the big stage last year as an eighth grader where he scored 22 goals with 13 assists for 35 points at attack. In the sophomore class Diamond has the chance to have a breakout season at midfield after finding the back of the net four times last year. As a team the offense averaged 11 goals per game, a number that will be tough to replicate, but they will look for their young players to develop and make this a formidable offensive unit. On the defensive side of the ball they also had a number of graduates from last year’s team and will have plenty of new faces with big roles, but they do return junior defenseman George Greene (Siena). In the goal will be senior Angelina “Cheeto” Price (Navy) as their starting goalie, taking over for Jaden Galfano. In a small sample size last season Price recorded 19 saves. As one of the premier goalies in the 2025 class, Price will certainly keep the Wildcats in a number of games this season. Coach Taylor shared what excites him about his team in 2025 and what some of the keys will be throughout the season. “I’m excited about our young talent, and curious to see how long it will take for younger guys to make an impact on and off the field. The key will be how to manage our depth, and how quickly these young players can develop.” The opening game of the regular season will be a rematch of the 2023 Long Island Championship when they take on Manhasset on March 25th, and their first league contest will be on April 2nd against East Islip.
