No. 14 Ranked Kings Park Kingsmen Team Preview

MJBROWN · March 8, 2025 · 2 min read

At number 14 in the LILJ top 25 preseason rankings it’s the Kingsmen of Kings Park who come into the new season after taking a huge step forward last year. In 2024 they had a 10 win season which included a playoff appearance and a trip to the county-semifinals where their season came to an end against Shoreham Wading River. This year they have a great opportunity to build off of last seasons success and are seeking a trip to the county finals and a chance to represent Suffolk Class C in the Long Island Championship.

Kings Park’s offense returns their top two leaders in points from a season ago in seniors Jack Salva (Merrimack) and Luke Griffin (Maryland). At attack Salva is coming off of a huge junior year with 39 goals and 28 assists for 67 points, and at midfield Griffin connected for 27 goals while dishing out 19 assists for 46 points. Their offense also returns senior attackman Billy Berhalter (LIU), scoring 19 goals along with 18 assists as a junior, senior attackman Chris Davis (Saint Michael) and junior midfielder Aidan Barbosa. As a team they averaged just over 10 goals per game, a number that they would love to replicate this year. On the defensive side of the field three of their key returning defensemen include seniors Gavin Marzigliano (Marist), Ethan Bitran (Iona) and Brendan Donohue (Roger Williams) with senior Aidan Kelly (LIU) at LSM. In the cage they’ll have a new starting goalie this season replacing 2024 graduate Dom Ziccardi who made 140 saves last year. On the roster in the senior class is Alex Wittneben who had 22 saves in a small sample size last year. The season opener for Kings Park will be against Ward Melville in a non-league matchup on March 26th, followed by a second non-league game against Plainedge on March 29th. The first league game will take place on April 2nd against Islip in what could be a potential playoff preview.
