Coming in at number 8 in the LILJ top 25 preseason rankings is Manhasset of Nassau County Class B. As one of the perennial powerhouses on the island, last year they appeared in the county championship game despite having a number of injuries throughout the season, where they were narrowly defeated by South Side. This year they are seeking another deep playoff run with a chance to compete for their third state championship in the last four years. Coached by Keith Cromwell who’s been in charge for the last eight years, he shared what excited him about the team heading into the season. “Offensive core returns led by senior all American candidate Danny Kolin. Many juniors and underclassmen who gained valuable experience last year being put into more important roles.”

Danny Colin (Navy) who coach Cromwell alluded to returns after a 29 goal 10 assist junior season at attack, and adding to their returning attack lineup includes junior Conor Sheeran after a 23 point season along with sophomore Marco Petruccelli who provided 9 points as a freshman. At midfield they return senior Daniel O’Connor the senior Colby commit, as well as juniors Tommy Leder and Dylan Scheer. This year the offense is without two of their top leaders in points from last season in Patrick Arnold and Luca Petruccelli who were part of the 2024 graduating class. Defensively Manhasset saw multiple graduates from last year’s starting lineup including Jack Muhlholland, Eddie Farkouh and Brian Fleck, and unfortunately will be without their junior Lehigh commit Kip Zacharia due to injury. They do return Arek Cellura the Stony Brook bound senior. Last season the defense as a team allowed just a shade under eight goals per game. The team will also have a new face in the cage as the starter as they look to fill the void left by 2024 graduate Matthew Im. Coach Cromwell shared what some of their keys to success will be in 2025. “New personnel at the goalie position and on the defensive side of the field with a lot of players competing for spots. Adjusting to the new shot clock format along with establishing our defensive depth chart with the expectation of a physical and more experience group on that side of the field come may and June.” The regular season opener for Manhasset will be a rematch of the 2023 Long Island Championship when they host the Shoreham-Wading River Wildcats on March 25th, followed by their first matchup in the power conference against Cold Spring Harbor on March 31st.
