No. 19 Ranked Shoreham-Wading River Wildcats Team Preview

As we’re now inside the top 20 of the LILJ top 26 preseason rankings, the Wildcats of Shoreham-Wading River land at number 19. This season SWR is looking to bounce back after an eight win season and a second straight year of missing the playoffs. They embrace a fresh chapter under fifth-year head coach Alex Drozjock, blending experienced returners with an influx of young talent ready to step into larger roles.

After graduating a large senior class from 2025, the Wildcats know there will be adjustments—but there’s also excitement surrounding a hungry group eager to prove itself. Offensively, the foundation remains strong with several proven producers back in the fold. Junior Madison Herr (Boston College) is the engine of the offense after another huge season last year in which she totaled 62 points, giving SWR a dynamic threat from the midfield. Seniors Kady Keegan (Binghamton) and Anabel Keegan (Towson) return as steady scoring options, combining for 51 points, while senior Leslie Jablonski (Fairfield) anchors the defense and provides leadership on the back end. In goal they return junior Sophia Giangreco (Frostburg) who tallied 96 saves last year as a sophomore. Junior Maeve Bourguignon (Elon) is a name to watch as well as one that is positioned for an expanded role this spring.

The Wildcats will look to replace significant production from key graduates Reese Marcario, Grayce Kitchen, Charlotte Erb, and Haylie Abrams, who accounted for a large share of last year’s offense and experience. Filling those shoes will require contributions from players across the roster, that will be counted on to add depth and consistency.

The season opener for SWR will be a non-league matchup against Massapequa on 3/21 followed by their first game in league play against last year’s state champions of Bayport-Blue Point on 3/26.

With a mix of battle-tested returners and motivated newcomers, Shoreham-Wading River enters 2026 focused on growth and trusting the process. If the Wildcats can settle into new roles early and maintain confidence through the transition, this group has the tools to stay competitive and continue building toward a successful season.
