The reigning back-to-back Class D New York State Champions the Cold Spring Harbor Seahawks come in at number 16 in the LILJ top 26 preseason rankings. After proving to be the team to beat for the last two years, they enter the 2026 season with a different cast of players at the forefront as they begin the quest for a three-peat. One thing that remains the same is that the program is led by head coach Danielle Castellane who is entering her 20th season at the helm and is one of Long Island’s most decorated and accomplished coaches.
After graduating a large and impactful senior class, the Seahawks turn the page with a clean slate, embracing the challenge of defining the next generation of the program. Offensively, the clear centerpiece returning is junior Olivia Mulada the Syracuse commit, who put together an All-American esque 2025 campaign with 80 points scoring 48 goals with 32 assists. Mulada’s ability to score and distribute makes her the focal point as Cold Spring Harbor reshapes its attack. With so much offensive production lost to graduation including All-American Ryan Reynolds, Maggie Spehr, Kelly Callaghan, and Ruby Speilberger, there will be a different core that will be counted on to take meaningful steps forward and help stabilize the offense.
Defensively the Seahawks also graduated major impact players in starting defenders Rachel Louie, and Michelle Coles, and All-American goalie Maya Soskin, who made 170 saves last season. Replacing that experience will be a major storyline, but it also opens the door for new contributors to emerge across all three phases of the game. Players like Bridget Willcocks (Marquette), Lyla Long (Embry Riddle), Leah Marino (Cincinnati), Hannah Sliwak, Kaitlin Millett, Kiersten Cody, and Ainsley Dircks will have a large impact on the success of the program and represent the youth movement that excites the coaching staff. In goal, junior Audrey Davidian (Columbia) is expected to step in as the starting goaltender after gaining varsity experience.
The season opener for the new look Seahawks is a non-league matchup against Connetquot on 3/21 before they open up with their first matchup in the power conference against South Side on 3/25. With a focus on hard work, development, and enjoying the process, Cold Spring Harbor will look to stay true to its identity and have fun as it builds its “new normal” throughout the 2026 season.
