The 2025 season was a major bounce back for the Mustangs who come in at number 11 in the top 26 preseason rankings, after just a four win season in 2024. They won a total of 12 games and were back in the playoffs where they were on the cusp of a county finals appearance after a narrow 7-6 defeat at the hands of Bayport-Blue Point. This year the team enters the 2026 season with its trademark balance — dynamic offense, reliable goaltending, and another year of experience under their belt — positioning the Mustangs for another strong run. The focus now shifts to replacing key senior leadership while building around a talented returning core.
The Class of 2025 leaves a notable mark, particularly in the midfield. Ryan Filippi (61 points) was a primary offensive engine, combining scoring and playmaking, while John Pramataris (45 points) provided consistency and vision and Jackson Burger (25 points) added two-way production. Their graduation creates openings but also opportunities for the next wave to step forward which is the expectation this season.
The foundation for 2026 is strong thanks to a strong Class of 2026. Attackman Dontae Spadaro (Marist) returns as one of the team’s most dynamic threats after a 30-goal, 25-assist season, while Jake Delaney (Salve Regina) and Lucas Anderson (Western Connecticut) give Mount Sinai finishing ability on the attack line. In the midfield, Hunter Pancir and Kevin Delprete (UMass Lowell) provide versatility and depth. Defensively, Dylan Kaplan, Tyler Massari (Wingate), are two of their upperclassmen that will be counted on to anchor a unit that has varsity experience across the board. In goal, Sean Steimle (Salve Regina) is a major asset after posting 151 saves and a save percentage north of 50%, giving the Mustangs that needed stability between the pipes.
The future is equally bright with a strong Class of 2027 already producing at a high level. Midfielder William Glandorf (LIU) and face-off specialist Tommy Massaro (Rutgers) bring athleticism and scoring punch, with Massaro also providing a huge advantage at the X. As sophomores they each were major contributors to last seasons success with Massaro finding the back of the net 45 times which was a team high, as well as a face-off winning percentage of 78%, and Glandorf connecting for 21 goals and a total of 28 points. They also welcome in David Darling (Pace) at midfield who transfers over from St. Anthony’s. The Class of 2028 also features promising contributors, including defensemen Nick Pramataris and Anthony Malizia.
With high-end returning scorers, proven goaltending, and a defense that looks to be a major strength, Mount Sinai High School once again has the pieces to compete at a high level. If the Mustangs can replace their graduated midfield production and continue to defend with discipline, they have the talent and structure to make legitimate noise in 2026, as they seek their first county championship appearance since 2023. The season opener for the Mustangs sees them host the Connetquot Thunderbirds in a non-league Suffolk clash on March 19th, followed by a matchup against the Massapequa Chiefs, one of Nassau County’s contenders on March 23rd. League play begins on March 30th at the stable against John Glenn.
