No. 18 Ranked Cold Spring Harbor Seahawks Team Preview

The Seahawks have been the gold standard in Nassau Class D since the program’s switch from Class C back in 2022, winning four straight county championships in the league with three straight state championship rings to go with them in that same span. Hall of Fame Head Coach Dennis Bonn has been the epicenter of Cold Spring Harbor’s lacrosse lore since 2000, stacking hundreds of wins and churning out dozens of elite collegiate talent throughout his illustrious career. The program is as well oiled as it gets here on Long Island, but even they finally saw the check engine light come on in the state semifinals a year ago in a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to Chenango Forks, the team’s first playoff defeat in four years. Sometimes a little taste of adversity serves a talented team well. This could be Dennis Bonn’s most inspired group over the last few seasons, and that’s dangerous to think about.

Cold Spring Harbor’s road back to the playoffs will come without the help of their three top scorers from last season. The program graduated Alex Bauer (24 G, 24 A), Roger Testa (31 G), Sam Bruno (18 G, 9 A) and Kevin Burns (27 G, 12 A) who were the focal points on the offensive unit in 2025. A golden opportunity awaits junior attackman Roy Testa the Hopkins commit (25 G, 13 A) who’ll get the keys to Coach Bonn’s scoring attack after a stellar sophomore campaign. Testa who already enters year four on varsity is a high IQ player down low who thrives off taking advantage of what the defense gives him. He’ll have a nice cast to work with in the midfield with seniors Rex O’Connor and Dylan Reilly (F & M) returning for another season. With the talent pool seemingly infinite at CSH, this should be a well-rounded offense in Nassau County in 2026. They also return junior face-off specialist Alex Vitale who will be the one tasked with getting the ball for their playmakers.  Coach Bonn brings back some experience in between the pipes with stud junior goalie Matt Kammer (Villanova), who racked up 191 saves last season. Senior long stick midfielder Jeep Pace is the seasoned veteran on the Seahawk defense who’ll have to bring some new names up to speed, quickly. This stout unit only allowed a mere 6.4 goals per game in 2025, and the team won’t be so lenient as to let that number rise this year. A lot of this team’s potential will depend on how cohesive this defense can play together – which is a lot easier said than done. One of the most intriguing teams entering the 2026 season, the Cold Spring Harbor Seahawks kick off the year at Syosset for a heavyweight Nassau County showdown on March 18th.
