Continuing to climb the ladder in the LILJ top 25 preseason rankings, the Comsewogue Warriors come in at number 20. The Warriors are a perennial contender in Suffolk Class B and they come into the new season after being on the cusp of appearing in the county finals in 2024. Coached by Kasey Mitchell who is now in year three, she shared what excites her about her team going into the season. “For the 2025 season we return 11 starters from last year. This will be the first year since I’ve been at Comsewogue that the majority of players on the field will be veteran upperclassmen.”
Among the returning upperclassmen that coach Mitchell alluded to is their do-it-all junior midfielder Kamryn McCrary the James Madison commit who led the team in points last year with 32 goals and 13 assists for 45 points. Adding to their midfield are juniors Vienna Guzman (Bryant), and Jayla Callendar (Elon). Guzman scored 28 goals while Callender added 30 goals last season. Leading their attack is junior Gianna McNulty the future Binghamton Bearcat along with seniors Abby Hughes (LIU) and Jackie Riviezzo (ESU). The Warriors offense scored just under 10 goals per game in 2024.
On the defensive side of the ball the team returns senior Kiera Andresen (LIU) and juniors Mikaela Knott and Caroline Scully, playing in front of junior goalie Izzy Borusso (Central Connecticut State) who now steps into the starting role. The defense always tends to be a strength for the Warriors and it once again proved to be true last year, allowing just a shade over seven goals per game, a number that they would love to replicate this year.
This winter they took part in the LILJ High School winter league to gear up for the start of the season, and two of their young guns in the program to lookout for in the years to come are Emma Fernandes in the class of 2029 and Lily Arnone in the class of 2030, who each stood out this winter.
The opening game of the season comes on March 29th with a non-league matchup against Commack of Class A, followed by their first league game against the reigning Class B Long Island Champions West Islip on April 1st.
