5th Annual Kevin Owens Run to Remember: A Tribute to Loved Ones and a Journey of Hope

MJBROWN · April 3, 2025 · 4 min read

On April 5, 2025, Lister Park will be transformed into a place of remembrance, hope, and community as the 5th Annual Kevin Owens Run to Remember takes place. This incredible event, rooted in love and resilience, is more than just a run; it’s a tribute to those we’ve lost and a lifeline for those who need our support.

Led by Kenny Owens, the event honors his late brother Kevin Owens, who tragically passed away from cancer on April 6, 2017, at just shy of 40 years old. Every step, every mile, and every donation reflects the enduring spirit of Kevin and the strength of the Owens family to make a difference in the lives of others.

A Journey of 27 Miles

At the heart of this event is Kenny Owens’ inspiring 27-mile run, completed over the course of 24 hours. The 27 miles symbolize Kevin’s final 27 days spent in the ICU, a deeply personal connection for Kenny that fuels his determination to complete this challenge year after year. Starting at 4 a.m., Kenny runs a 4.6-mile loop every 4 hours, with stops at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., 4 p.m., 8 p.m., and midnight, making it both a physical and emotional testament to resilience and perseverance.

This run is not a race but a celebration and an invitation for others to join Kenny’s efforts. Participants can jog or walk alongside him for one of the loops, showing their solidarity and helping raise funds for the cause. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just want to cheer along the sidelines, everyone is welcome to take part in this memorable day.

Honoring Loved Ones

This year’s Run to Remember is especially significant as it commemorates the lives of Kevin Owens and Patrick Owens, Kenny’s brothers, as well as other dear loved ones who have passed. The event will also honor the memory of:

  • Justin Spillane
  • Christine D’Onofrio Osborn
  • Dana Costanzo

Additionally, funds raised will go toward supporting individuals currently battling health challenges, including:

  • Emily Casey
  • Ryan O’Shea

These names represent not just individuals but entire families navigating difficult and life-changing circumstances. The event is a reminder of the power of community to bring light where there is struggle, and hope where there is adversity.

A Community Effort

The Kevin Owens Run to Remember is made possible by an incredible network of partners and sponsors who share a vision of giving back. Key supporters include:

  • Buoy4, a clothing and apparel company founded by Kenny and Kevin’s friends, which is rooted in generosity.
  • The Tommy Brull Foundation, a longtime collaborator in community-driven initiatives.
  • Other notable contributors like Owens Logistics, Once Upon a Coconut, Hooks for Heroes, and many more.

This event wouldn’t be possible without the businesses, organizations, and individuals who come together to make it happen, showing that generosity is truly at the heart of the Run to Remember.

Why It Matters

The Kevin Owens Run to Remember is about much more than running. It’s a way to honor the memory of Kevin, Patrick, and others who have touched our hearts. It’s also a chance to change lives by supporting those who are currently facing their own battles. Cancer and other health challenges can take an overwhelming toll, but events like this show the strength of a community united in compassion and care.

Every mile Kenny runs is a testament to love, resilience, and the belief that we can make a difference. All it takes is the willingness to show up, whether by donating, participating, or cheering from the sidelines.

Join us on April 5, 2025, at Lister Park and be part of something greater. Together, we’ll celebrate life, remember loved ones, and extend hope to families in need.
