LILJ Presents 2024 Boys End of Season Watch List

With the 2022 high school season coming to a close there has been a plethora of players in the class of 2024 that have had the opportunity see the field. Some of them will even be playing this weekend in the Long Island Championship. Regardless of the amount of wins or losses their team had, they opened a lot of eyes when they stepped on the field and will soon be entering their recruiting process. LILJ Presents Boys 2023 End of Season Watch List

With the talent on the boys side of lacrosse seemingly impressing more and more, it’s no surprise that the 2023 boys have loads of talent. With the end of the season near, these young men have shown incredible abilities on the field. With some heading to incredible universities and others still finding their way, these amazing players will no doubt find their way at the next level and we can’t wait to watch what they’ll bring next year. LILJ Presents 2023 Girls End of Season Watch List

As the season comes to a close, despite winning and losing, there have been some fine young ladies to step on the lacrosse field this year all across the Island. These rising seniors have proven their talent and given their extreme work ethic, have found individual success. Many of these girls are headed to prestigious universities where they hope to continue their success on and off the field. Watching these young women grow into fabulous lacrosse players has been an incredible experience and we wish them the best in their future endeavors. LILJ Presents 2024 Girls End of Season Watch List

As we approach the girls Long Island Championship games this weekend the season has come to an end  for many teams on the island. Regardless of the overall team success the LILJ wants to highlight these ladies in the class of 2024 across the island for what they did for their respective teams and for what they will continue to do in the future as they begin their recruiting process. Massapequa Players Spotlight with Joely Caramelli, Jess Giller, and Bridget Valentine

One of the top girls teams in Nassau County and on Long Island are the Massapequa Chiefs. This season they went 10-4 in the regular season and have clinched the number one seed in the Nassau Class A bracket. They are led by three stud junior midfielders, Joely Caramelli, Jess Giller, and Bridget Valentine who fill out the draw circle for the Chiefs. The uniqueness of this lethal trio is that they have been playing lacrosse together for over 10 years. Their time on the field together goes all the way back to their days playing PAL lacrosse in the Massapequa community.

No. 2 Ranked Bayport-Blue Point Lady Phantoms Team Preview

Coming in as the number two ranked team in the LILJ preseason rankings are the Bayport-Blue Point Lady Phantoms. Last year was a historic season that saw them go a perfect 17-0 and win the Class C Long Island Championship. Their come-from-behind win over Manhasset earned them their first championship in the history of the program. This year it will be about running it back and trying to defend their title. Coached by Ryan Gick, he is looking forward to seeing some of the returning players have expanded roles this season.

No. 10 Ranked South Side Lady Cyclones Team Preview

As we are now in the top 10 of the LILJ preseason rankings, coming in at number 10 are the South Side Lady Cyclones. Rob Devlin is their head coach and last season they went 10-3 and were in the Class B county finals where they lost to Garden City. The program has seen a lot of recent success, appearing in at least the semifinals each year since 2018. This year they return a strong group of veterans that will look to guide them right back to the county finals and elevate them over the top.

No. 13 Ranked Comsewogue Warriors Team Preview

The 2021 season saw the Comsewogue Warriors go 15-2, making it all the way to the Long Island Class B Championship where they were defeated by Garden City. Throughout their history they have made the playoffs the last 30 years and have nine county titles, two Long Island championships, and two New York State championships. This year they come in as the 13th ranked team in the LILJ preseason rankings. The Warriors are coached by Pete Mitchell, and he’s excited to see what his team can do after losing some key pieces in the class of 2021.

No. 14 Ranked Huntington Blue Devils Team Preview

The 2022 season for the Huntington Blue Devils will be about trying to complete unfinished business. Last year they started the season winning their first 10 games and finished 12-3 to earn the top seed, but were upset in the Quarterfinals of the Class A playoffs by Sachem North. A disappointing end to the season should have them hungry and motivated to come back even better. Head Coach Julian Watts shared his excitement about having 13 seniors returning to the team this year.

No. 21 Ranked MacArthur Generals Team Preview

The MacArthur Generals are coming off of a 9-5 season and their first final four appearance in over 20 years. They were defeated by Carey in the Nassau Class B semifinals, but have a lot of seniors who are hungry for more in their final season. The team is led by Head Coach John Nessler and he shared how he views his team going into the 2022 season.
