The boys state championships at Hofstra showcased great games and plenty of talent. Three Long Island teams came away with a state title and players from all over the state displayed their amazing talent. Take a look at the players from all over New York that dominated on Saturday and got named to the 1st team, 2nd team and honorable mention list.
ALL NYS Championships 1st team
Attack- Joey Terenzi (Manhasset)- The dynamic senior dominated in the state final. Terenzi finished with a hat trick and led his team to a state title
Attack- Luke Giarraputo (Cold Spring Harbor)- Giarraputo put on a show in the opening game of the day. He finished with 4 goals and 4 assists and couldn’t be stopped offensively
Attack- Matt Perfetto (Manhasset)- The X attackmen showcased his dodging ability a ton and also had a highlight reel goal in the first quarter. Perfetto had 4 points in the state championship win
Attack/Midfield- Liam Connor (Manhasset)- When it mattered most, Connor had one of his best performances of his career. He tallied 5 goals for Manhasset.
Midfield- Jack Archer (Garden City)- In a defensive battle, it was Archer who stepped up to get the Garden City offense going. Archer had 3 goals and was extremely difficult to guard
Midfield- Jack Peterson (Manhasset)- Peterson dominated the Long Island title game and it didn’t stop there. The athletic midfielder put on a show once again registering 2 goals and 6 assists
Midfield- Carson Dyl (Baldwinsville)- Dyl proved to be one of the best two way midfielders throughout the entire day. He had a great performance finishing with 3 goals against Northport.
FOGO/Midfield- Jack Cascadden (Garden City)- Cascadden was a key component to the Trojans’ win in the state final. He was dominant at the faceoff X and also impacted the game offensively
FOGO- Cal Girard (Manhasset)- The Duke bound junior did his thing at the faceoff X. Girard’s quickness and explosiveness was on full display in another dominant effort.
FOGO- Jake Czyz (Baldwinsville)- In a really difficult faceoff battle in the state final, Czyz rose to the occasion. He won some crucial faceoffs against one of the island’s best to help lead his team to a state championship.
LSM- Brayden Penafeather-Stevenson (Baldwinsville)- The dynamic LSM was electrifying on Saturday. The Richmond bound junior had a highlight reel goal and was all over the field on defense.
SSDM- Quinn Reynolds (Northport)- Reynolds was ferocious as usual at the defensive midfield position. He constantly picked up ground balls and made it difficult on offensive players
Defense- Brendan Staub (Garden City)- Staub once again dominated his matchup. He was a ground ball machine and was a key factor for this Trojans defense to only let up one goal.
Defense- Eric Platten (Canandaigua)- The Yale bound senior was the heart and soul of this Braves defense. He showed that he’s a lockdown defender and he was a nightmare to go against
Defense- Austin McClintic (Baldwinsville)- The Fairfield signee had to guard the top player on Northport’s offense and he thrived with the assignment. The combination of quick feet and physicality helped him have a great game defensively
Goalie- Nick Cary (Baldwinsville)- The Bees keeper stepped up on the big stage. Northport’s offense was firing away but Cary came up with a ton of big saves throughout the afternoon to help secure the win.
Goalie- Jack Faiola (Canandaigua)- Faiola had a tremendous day in net. He made plenty of saves in the first half and helped keep the game deadlocked before Garden City pulled away.
