Manhasset Secures a Strong Win Over Sayville in LILJ Winter League Game

In an exciting LILJ Winter League matchup, Manhasset triumphed over Sayville by a final score of 14-8. The game, which took place on Sunday, December 3, at 4:45 pm at the Stony Brook University Indoor Complex, was a matchup featuring two Class C teams representing Nassau and Suffolk County in what could be a spring Long Island Championship.

Manhasset took the lead in the first half, scoring 5 goals to Sayville’s 4 after initially trailing 3-1. They maintained their momentum in the second half, adding 9 more goals in the second frame. Sayville who has a new leader at the helm in Head Coach Gary Jensen put up a strong fight despite missing some of their key players which include their dynamic sophomore midfielder Sophia Buffardi and their USF commit Lucy Livingston as a low defender.

Key players for Manhasset included Shea Panzik who’s committed to Vanderbilt, who led the scoring with 5 goals and 1 assist. The future Loyola Greyhound Lauren Perfetto also made a significant impact, contributing 2 goals and 1 assist. Danielle Perfetto, the young gun in the 2027 class and Harvard commit Nicole Giannakopoulos each added 2 goals to the team’s impressive scoreline.

While Manhasset displayed their firepower, Sayville demonstrated moments throughout the game showing the capabilities that they have when they have their full roster, but once Manhasset was able to claim the lead they did not look back.

Coming up in week 2 Manhasset targets their second victory when they play at 4:45 against ESM who comes off a tie against St. Anthony’s 2025. For Sayville they are back in action at 11:30 against the 2025 Friars.
