YJ Graz/Stadler Triumphs Over Mount Sinai in Week 1 LILJ Winter League Game

In an encounter between club lacrosse against high school at the Stony Brook University Indoor Complex, the freshmen from YJ Graz/Stadler secured a victory over Mount Sinai with a final score of 13-5 in the LILJ Winter League game played on Sunday, December 3, at 4:00 pm.

The first half set the tone for YJ Graz/Stadler’s dominance, with the team establishing a solid 4-1 lead. This early advantage was further extended in the second half as they rattled off an impressive 9 additional goals. Mount Sinai, despite their efforts, was only able to add 4 more goals to their initial tally in the second half.

Key players for YJ Graz/Stadler included the midfielder Madison Herr, who led the scoring with 3 goals. Midfielder Olivia Brady and attacker Riley Cash each contributed 2 goals, showcasing their offensive capabilities. Other notable performances came from Natalie Byrns with 2 goals and Katelynn Murtha, who played a pivotal role with 2 assists.

Mount Sinai’s effort was led by goals from Ava Brennan, Kayli Carannante who will be playing next year for the University of Pittsburgh, Ava Clark the LIU bound junior, Madeline Kaplan, and Olivia Romeo, each contributing to the team’s total score. Despite these individual efforts, Mount Sinai was unable to find the back of the net consistently enough against YJ Graz/Stadler’s defense.

The goalkeeping on both sides was notable, with Audrey Davidian and Emery de Lauzon of YJ Graz/Stadler sharing duties and each saving 50% of the shots. Mount Sinai’s goalies Kathryn Arrington and Addison Beall made commendable efforts as well, with Beall saving 55% of the shots.

This game proved to show why YJ Graz/Stadler is the top ranked club lacrosse team in the country in the Class of 2027.

In week 2 it will be freshman vs sophomores as YJ Graz/Stadler will face the 2026 team of YJ Torre/Mitchell at 1:45. Mt. Sinai will square off against Garden City at 9:15 am.
