No. 19 Ranked Comsewogue Warriors Team Preview

As we’re now inside the top 20 of the LILJ preseason rankings, it’s the Comsewogue Warriors coming it at number 19. After winning the Suffolk Class B County Championship in 2021 and 2022, they were defeated in the semifinals in 2023 against West Islip in a heartbreaking finish by a score of 9-8. This year Comsewogue hopes to erase last season’s ending and find themselves back in the county final with a chance to win another county championship. At the helm leading this program is long time head coach Pete Mitchell.

The Warriors saw some key graduates in the 2023 class and will now be looking for their returning players to step into an elevated role this season as they look to fill void left behind by players like James Krieg and Justin Bonacci. On the offensive end of the field they return key players which include Brayden Arias, Anthony Marino, and Dylan Rocchio (Marist) to form this offensive trio. Expect an abundance of points from these three as Rocchio had 46 points last season followed by Arias with 45 and Marion with 25. Also with a chance for more production this season is Doug Annicelli who tallied 11 points as a sophomore from the midfield last year.

Defensively Comsewogue will have the net protected by senior Marist commit Adam Wachholder who is now in his third season as the starting goalie and was a brick wall last season, stopping a total of 202 shots. With Wachholder in the net this will keep Comsewogue in every game this season, having the advantage in the net in virtually every matchup. Two of their top defensemen who will be playing in front of Wachholder and anchoring the defense is junior Tyler Strohm (Siena) and sophomore Connor Rocchio. Overall the defense should be one of the upper echelon defenses in Suffolk County after allowing fewer than eight goals per game in 2023.
