No. 16 Ranked Farmingdale Dalers Team Preview

In Nassau County Class A we have the reigning Long Island Champion Farmingdale Dalers who come in at number 16 in the LILJ top 24 preseason rankings. Last season was one to remember as they went all the way to the New York State Championship Game, coming just a few goals short against Baldwinsville. This year they won’t have many of names and faces that were part of last year’s special season, but do have key returners as well as newcomers that they hope will make 2024 another great season. One of the changes this year for Farmingdale is seeing defensive coordinator Eric Dunne now take over as the new head coach.

The Dalers have a scary duo that will spearhead this offense with seniors Brendan O’Keefe the Albany commit, and Bryant commit Caden Lennon. O’Keefe the middie/attackman went on a tear last season with nearly a 100 point season as he scored 40 goals with 53 assists for 93 points. Lennon the big lefty attackman added 42 goals of his own last season with 46 points. Teams across Nassau County will certainly have their hands full trying to contain this lethal tandem. Adding to the Dalers offense is senior attackman Dylan June and senior midfielder Sal posillico. At the face-off X will be the sophomore JJ Damo who will be a huge factor in getting this offense what they hope will be plenty of possessions.

Defense has historically been the calling card for the Dalers, and this season should be no different. In 2023 they were a stifling unit, as they yielded only 4.8 goals per game. They return defenseman Jaxon Parisi (UIndy), as well as short-stick defensive midfielder Jake Mangio in the 2025 class. They will be without now Syracuse goalie Michael Ippoliti, which opens the door for senior Jimmy Caputo (Pace) to take over as the starter. Caputo who had a chance start a number of games for the Dalers two seasons ago will be the last line of defense as they look to replicate last year’s numbers. Likely backing up Caputo will be junior Matt Hughes.

This season Farmingdale hopes to make it back-to-back county and Long Island Championships, and has very competitive regular season schedule in the new Power Conference which includes fellow Class A contenders Massapequa, Syosset and Port Washington.
