The Wildcats who enter the season as the defending county champions of Suffolk Class C come in at number four in the LILJ top 24 preseason rankings. A the helm is Head Coach Mike Taylor, and although Shoreham graduated a number of players in the 2023 class, they still have star power that makes them the likely favorite in Suffolk Class C and possibly the favorite on all of Long Island in Class C.
Shoreham’s offense which was high powered last season welcomes back their senior Duke bound attackman Liam Kershis who was among the islands top scorers last season with 59 goals and 38 assists for 97 points. Kershis is a lethal scorer that is often times overmatching his opponents and will be the oppositions top player that they game plan for to try to contain the Wildcats offense. A big part of their attack from last year that they are without this season is 2023 graduate Alec Gregorek who accounted for 97 points of his own which means Shoreham will look for other players to fill that void this season.
The midfield returns senior Johns Hopkins commit Liam Gregorek who is in line another big season after a 28 goal 10 assist junior campaign as a two-way midfielder that can also take face-offs. Alongside Gregorek is Navy commit Alex Kershis and Siena commit Ryan Wilson who combined for 29 points last season. Shoreham averaged over 12 goals per game last year which is a number that will help them win a large number of games this season if they can replicate that success.
Defensively they graduated a number of members from last year’s team, but do welcome back senior defenseman Liam Taylor the Bryant commit, and in the net will be senior Fairfield commit Jaden Galfano who enters his third season as the starting goalie and tallied 200 saves with a 60% save percentage last year.
This season the Wildcats will look to capture their second straight county title and win their first Long Island Championship since 2019 which was also the last time they brought home a state championship.
