In a rematch of last year’s quarterfinal between Smithtown East and Commack, the Cougars girls lacrosse team showcased their prowess against Smithtown East as they came away victorious this time around by a final score of 16-6.
The game opened with both teams displaying intense energy and determination, setting the stage for an electrifying showdown. In a closely contested first quarter, Commack managed to secure a narrow lead with a score of 4-3. However, as the game progressed, Commack demonstrated their superiority on both ends of the field.
The second and third quarters saw Commack extending their lead, capitalizing on scoring opportunities while maintaining a strong defensive presence to limit Smithtown East’s chances. With impressive teamwork and skillful execution, Commack controlled the game, showcasing their depth and versatility.
By the end of the fourth quarter, Commack emerged victorious with a commanding final score of 16-6, highlighting their dominance on the field. The win for Commack keeps their remarkable season alive as they head to the semifinals, further solidifying them as one of the top teams in Suffolk County.

While Smithtown East displayed resilience and determination throughout the game, they were unable to match Commack’s offensive firepower. Despite the loss, Jenna Soto led the way for the Bulls offense with 3 goals along with 2 assists.
Commack moves on to the semifinals where they will host the reigning 3-time Suffolk A champs the Northport Tigers on Friday at 4pm. For Smithtown East their season comes to an end after an 8-8 regular season and an opening round playoff win against Sachem North.
