Northport Takes Down Bay Shore 14-9 to Head to Semifinals

In the two vs seven seed matchup on Wednesday in Northport, the Marauders and Tigers, clashed for a berth in the semifinals. The game unfolded with remarkable intensity, showcasing the competitive spirit and prowess of both teams as Bay Shore aimed to pull off the upset while the Tigers looked to hold serve as the higher seed.

The match began with a strong start from both sides, trading goals in an electrifying first quarter. Bay Shore managed to maintain pace, ending the quarter tied with Northport at 4 goals each. However, as the game progressed, Northport began to assert their dominance, gradually edging ahead with a narrow lead by halftime.

In the third quarter, Northport extended their lead, capitalizing on opportunities and tightening their defense to stifle Bay Shore’s offense. Despite Bay Shore’s valiant efforts to stage a comeback in the final quarter, Northport held firm, ultimately securing the victory with a final score of 14-9.

Player highlights included Andrew Danowski’s remarkable offensive display for Bay Shore, contributing significantly with 3 goals and 1 assist. Nicholas Alicanti added 2 goals and 1 assist and Ethan Vargas with 2 goals. Goalkeeper Devin Dubendorf exhibited resilience between the posts, making 15 saves despite formidable offensive pressure from Northport.

For Northport, Logan Cash emerged as a standout performer, amassing an impressive 5 points with 1 goal and 4 assists. Luke Loiacono added 4 goals and Quinn Reynolds with 3 goals and 1 assist, along with two goals each from Jack Deliberti, Tim McLam, and Luca Elmaleh.  Goalkeeper Quinn Napolitano displayed composure under pressure, making 7 crucial saves to help secure the victory.

The season has now come to an end for Bay Shore after going 10-6 in the regular season and an opening round playoff win against South Fork.

Northport keeps their season alive as they aim to capture their fourth straight Suffolk County Championship. Next up in the semifinals is the next chapter of a classic rivalry when they host Ward Melville on Saturday at 1pm. In the regular season Northport defeated Ward Melville by the slimmest of margins, winning 10-9.
