North Shore Edges Seaford in Thrilling Lacrosse Quarterfinals Showdown

In a heart-pounding lacrosse match held at Seaford on Thursday, North Shore managed to secure a narrow victory in the quarterfinals to advance to the semis as it was eighth grader Natalie Yoo who emerged as the hero, scoring the game winner in overtime for a 9-8 win.

Seaford took an early lead in the first quarter with a score of 1, while North Shore found their footing in the second quarter, tallying up 2 points to stay in close contention. As the game progressed, each team showcased why they are evenly matched, resulting in a neck-and-neck battle that saw the lead change hands multiple times.

By the end of regulation time, both teams were deadlocked with a score of 8-8, forcing the game into overtime. The tension in the air was palpable as players and spectators alike braced themselves for the decisive moments that would determine the outcome of the match.

In the end, it was North Shore who emerged victorious, clinching the win 40 seconds into overtime with a final score of 9-8. The team’s perseverance and resilience were evident as they managed to edge out their opponents in a closely contested affair, after falling to Seaford 11-9 in the regular season finale less than a week ago.

Key players from both teams made significant contributions to the game. In addition to the game winner by Yoo, Adriana Mavlios from North Shore delivered a standout performance, racking up an impressive 7 points with 6 goals and 1 assist. Meanwhile, Amanda Williamson and Katelynn Tuohy from Seaford showcased their prowess on the field, with Williamson notching up 5 points on 3 goals and 2 assist and Tuohy contributing 3 goals.

Hailey Ayres for North Shore, made 5 crucial saves. On the other side, Sarah Ulzheimer put in a commendable effort for Seaford, recording an impressive 10 saves with a save percentage of 52%.

For Seaford this marks the end of their season that saw them finish with an overall record of 7-9, while North Shore heads to the semifinals which will be on Wednesday May 22nd at Adelphi as they wait the winner of Mineola vs Manhasset.
