Last Saturday and Sunday was the finale of pool play in the LILJ Girls High School Winter League with a number of competitive games on the slate across all three divisions that went right down to the wire. Individual players also put together some remarkable performances over the weekend as they continue to make their mark for their respective teams. With the stage now set for the playoffs starting next weekend, let’s go back and recap all of the matchups from the final week of pool play in week 3 of the LILJ Girls High School Winter League!
FLG 2028 Navy vs Team 91 Fusion 2028
Opening up the weekend on Saturday 12/21 was matchup of 2028s between FLG and 91 Fusion, and it was FLG earning a 15-3 to wrap up pool play with a perfect 4-0 record. The lead for FLG was only a four goal advantage leading 6-2, but they were sparked by a commanding second half, outscoring 91 9-1 to win comfortably. Offensively it was a complete team effort for FLG, with nine different players contributing with at least one goal. Scoring three goals each to lead the team was Ashley Arizonis and Madeline Kavanaugh, with also two assists from Arizonis and three caused turnovers from Kavanaugh. Eileen Eschmann and Ava Bencivenga added two goals each, and Evelyn Bavaro, Claire Castiglione, Shea Gilroy, Ireland Pinner, and Stella Efstathiou all found the back of the net once, with one assist from Pinner and two from Efstathiou. On the draw circle Arizonis was 75% going 3/4 while the team as whole was 4/6, and in the cage Molly Giordano played the entire game finishing with a 57% save percentage with four saves on seven shots on goal. Despite the loss for 91, goaltender Makayla Blaising continued to eat up shots, racking up 18 saves with a 55% save percentage. Through the first three weeks Blaising is currently at the top of the leaderboard in the league in saves with 55. Brooke Filosa scored two goals and Peyton Gialella scored once to round out the 91 offense.
Sayville JV vs Huntington JV
The Golden Flashes and Blue Devils faced off in what was the second to last pool play game for each team, and it was the Blue Devils securing their first win in pool play defeating Sayville 13-7. The first half slightly favored Huntington as they held a 5-3 lead through the first 20 minutes, but the second half saw them establish control of the game, outscoring Sayville 8-4 for the six goal win. After a six goal outing the previous week against YJ Friedman, Olivia Puccio had another big offensive outing with five goals and one assist for a game high six points. Kaitlyn Purcell and Ava Bencivenga each scored two goals, dished out two assists and created four caused turnovers, while Norah Golden also connected on two goals along with three assists. On the defensive end Claire Dello-Iacono forced two turnovers, but also tallied two assists as a result of turning defense to offense and her extremely efficient rate of clearing the ball up the field. Huntington managed to win 5/6 draw controls with Bencivenga going 3/4, and as a team they were plus 11 over Sayville in ground balls with a 28-17 advantage. Violet Palacios led the team with five ground balls, followed by four each from Ava Bencivenga and Brianna Purcell. For the Golden Flashes, Caitlin Pattilio had a hat-trick to lead them in scoring, while Aubrey Vitale added two goals and one each from Maggie Schollenberger and Jill Livingston.
Bayport JV vs YJ Babst 2030
Game three on the day saw the Phantoms face the 2030s of YJ Babst with both teams 1-1 entering this matchup. Goals were at a premium for both teams, but ultimately it was Bayport holding the prolific offense of YJ Babst to three goals, winning by a score of 6-3. It was a halftime lead of 4-2 and in the second half each team scored two goals to keep the margin a three goal win for the Phantoms. In the cage for Bayport was Sophia Diaz who compiled 12 saves with only three goals allowed. Liliana May was an automatic catch and shoot goal scorer, leading the team with three goals, going 1/1 on 8 meters. Scoring one goal each for the Phantoms was Liliana LiPuma, Kaleyn Aiello and Kayla Bongiorno. YJ Babst’s three goals were scored by three different players including Addison FitzGibbon, Ally Voss and Mackenzie Klammer, and Voss was also 2/2 on the draw circle.
YJ Babst 2030 vs Team 91 Roar 2029
Two of the country’s top club teams went head-to-head in a must see matchup as the 2030s of YJ Babst went against the 2029s of 91 Roar. In the first half it was a back and forth contest with neither team leading by more than two goals, and through the first 20 minutes of play the two teams were even at 6-6. Opening up the second half YJ Babst jumped in front 7-6 with just under three minutes into the period on a goal scored by Mackenzie Klammer, but the next three goals would be scored by 91 to take a 9-7 lead and would go on to hang on for a 9-8 win to finish pool play with a 4-0 record. Avah Robinson who continues to be an offensive force, found the back of the net three times on three shots on goal and was 3/3 on the draw circle. Both Michaela Grever and Payton Ioannou scored once and added two assists with also two caused turnovers from Ioannou, while Riley LaRocca, Jaidyn Marchitto, Addison Fox, and Keira Pellizzi also scored one goal each. In the second half goalie Lily Parasmo came up with three big saves in critical moments, and finished with a save percentage of 60%. For YJ Babst Mackenzie Klammer continues to show why she is one of the top 2030s on the island, scoring three goals, going 2/2 on 8 meter shots and also forcing two turnovers. Both Gabrielle Surdi and Ally Voss scored two goals, with one goal scored by Ava Ciofrone to round out the scoring. Shay Falvey had a very stout game in goal, playing in the second half making four saves with a 57% save percentage.
Team 91 Thunder 2029 vs YJ Friedman 2029
Aiming to go undefeated in pool play, YJ Friedman faced the fellow 2029s of Team 91 Thunder, and it was YJ Friedman securing a big win by a score of 20-2, outscoring 91 11-0 in the first half and 9-2 in the second the half. Offensively it continued to be a total team effort in the victory, as six different players scored at least two goals. Natalie Takacs had a game high four goals, followed by three goals and two assists from both Lainie Friedman and Ella Dragonette, three goals from Ella Schopp, two goals and three assists from Sophia Enea, and two goals and two assists from Molly McNamara. The trio of Olivia Leopardi, Avery Needle, and Arianna Focarile all added one goal each with Needle also dishing out two assists, as she continues to be a playmaker for others, leading the team with 14 assists through the first three weeks. 91’s two goals were scored by Allie Lizza and Kyla McGuire, with McGuire also going 2-4 on the draw circle. The win for YJ Friedman puts them in a tie with FLG at the top of pool two each with a 4-0 record.
Tradition 2029 vs Bayport JV
In a matchup between the 2029s of Tradition and the young guns of the Phantoms, this one went in favor of Bayport, earning a comfortable win by a score of 11-3 for their second straight pool play win. The Phantoms defense has been tough to score on all winter, allowing only 5.8 goals per game which the fewest in the JV division. In goal was Peyton D’Angelo, playing the entire game and accumulating four saves and only three goals allowed for a 57% save percentage. In the clearing game Ella Little was great at effectively getting the ball up the field to the offense of the Phantoms. Offensively Liliana LiPuma and Kaelyn Aiello each connected on three goals with also one assist from Aiello, and Kayla Bongiorno added two goals while also being a disruptor on defense with three caused turnovers. Rounding out the offense was one goal each scored by Liliana May, Alexandria Kennedy and Leila Rogers. Tradition’s Reese Goettelmann found the back of the net twice and Kaila Hansman scored once. On the draw circle Emily Bennett was 60% going 3/5.
Team 91 Fusion 2028 vs Team 91 Thunder 2029
The 2028s of Team 91 Fusion faced the 2029s of 91 Thunder, and it was a closely contested game that saw the eighth graders of 91 Thunder come away with a 12-9 win. This one was a back and forth first half with multiple ties but it was 91 Thunder leading 4-3 inside of 4 seconds remaining when Logan Gialella came up with a big caused turnover leading to Sophie Kasouf scoring in transition for her third goal of the half to take a two goal lead into halftime. The lead increased in the second half with Thunder outscoring Fusion 7-6 for the three goal victory. The play of Kasouf, and Allie Lizza on offense and Gialella on defense set the tone for 91 Thunder. Kasouf and Lizza both recorded a hat-trick, and had two ground balls with Lizza also creating two turnovers. Gialella had a big defensive impact in the game, from the big caused turnover towards the end of the first half, and coming up with a game high six ground balls. Nora Miller also added two goals and two assists, while goaltenders Ashleigh Kurowski and Katie Van Horn were impactful in the cage with Kurowski going 50% in saves and Van Horn 57%. For 91 Fusion it was the elder Gialella with a standout offensive game with Peyton Gialella connecting for four goals on six shots and going 2/3 on 8 meter shots. Christina Granata found the back of the net twice to go with two caused turnovers, and Gianna Forgione added one goal and one assist with three takeaways.
Bayport Varsity vs YJ Napolitano/Chamberlain 2028
The Phantoms and the 2028s of YJ Napolitano Chamberlain faced off in what was a big win for the varsity squad of Bayport by a score of 21-1. The goals came early and often, outscoring them 15-0 in the first half and 6-1 in the second half. Leading the charge was Ava Meyn (Maryland) with five goals, one assist, and three caused turnovers, and Aubrie Eisfeld (Clemson) with four goals, two assists, and one caused turnover. Adding two goals each was Kailey Bruckner (Towson), Emma Shanahan (Quinnipiac), Sara Richardt (Binghamton) and Liliana May. Richardt also dished out three assists with two assists from May as well as one from Shanahan. Defensively Emma Brown (Stanford) had a game high three caused turnovers and also scored a goal. For YJ it was Jojo Derby, switching hands from left to right on an assist from Gabriella LaGala.
Harborfields vs Long Beach
Harborfields entered this game against Long Beach seeking their first win in pool play after dropping their first game and tying their second. This time they would get in the win column, defeating Long Beach by a score of 13-8, outscoring them 8-5 in the first half and 5-3 in the second half. It was the future Seawolf Bella Monteleone with a team high four goals and one assist to lead the Tornadoes in points, followed by three goals and one assist from freshman Jamie Medico. Coming through with two goals each was freshman Evelyn Bavaria and sophomore Taylor Cavanaugh with one goal from Sawyer Scarola (Maryland) to round out the offensive output. The goalie combination of Olivia Eusanio and Ava Kalmar were both pivotal in the win, as Eusanio was 50% in saves and Kalmar 55%. For Long Beach FSU commit Sky Kilfeather continues to be on a tear this winter, going off for four goals and three assists to tally seven points in the game. Mia Warren, Julia Russo, Marianna Chimienti, and Sienna Warren all scored once, and on the draw circle Shannon O’Shea was 50% going 2/4.
Wantagh vs YJ Torre/Mitchell 2026
The 2026s of YJ Torre Mitchell earned a big win against the short-handed Wantagh Warriors by a score of 15-2 for their first win in pool play. This one was only a two goal game at the half with YJ leading 3-1 but in the second half they took full control of the game outscoring Wantagh 12-1. The explosive offense of YJ saw five different players contribute with multiple goals, led by the hat-trick from UMass commit Madison Sussi followed by two goals each from Carly Amato (UMass), Sara Richardt (Binghamton), Meadow Szillus (Stony Brook) and Gianna McNulty (Binghamton). In the cage was Hailey Stratton (UNC Charlotte) who was 67% in saves. One of the biggest keys to the big advantage for YJ in the second half was just two turnovers for YJ compared to 11 for Wantagh. Meadow Szillus had a game high four caused turnovers for YJ. For Wantagh there two goals were scored by Mia Dankenbrink and Peyton Naus (Molloy) and in goal in the first was Madeline Gonzalez going 57% in saves.
South Side vs YJ Maget/Bertolone 2028
Looking to remain perfect in pool play was the 2028s of YJ Maget/Bertolone when they faced the Cyclones of South Side. The first half saw multiple lead changes but it was South Side holding a 4-3 lead going into halftime. The second half is where the tide shifted in favor of YJ, as they shut out South Side outscoring them 5-0. Morgan Krinsky who was in net in the first half recorded eight saves with a 73% save percentage. Offensively Fabiana Gallagher, Addison Kelly, and Nora Ruddy each struck for two goals with Ruddy also adding two assists. Scoring one goal each was Jennavieve Lineman and Katie Murphy as well as one assist from Murphy. In the caused turnover department Jamie Medico, Bowen Schmitt, and Charlotte Clark all came up with two takeaways. South Side’s offense was led by two goals from Sienna Connolly (Northwestern) and one goal each from Annie Chimienti (Canisius) and Charlotte Rathjen (UNC). On the draw circle Rathjen was also 60% going 3/5 and in the net for Cyclones was freshman Sydney Millett making nine saves with a 53% save percentage.
YJ Grazidei/Stadler 2027 vs Comsewogue
The 2027 phenoms of YJ Grazidei/Stadler faced off against the Comsewogue Warriors, and the quick start to the game by YJ is what proved to be the difference in the game as they took this one by a final score of 13-8, thanks to a strong first half where they outscored Comsewogue 7-1. Olivia Brady the do-it-all midfielder for YJ continues to show what makes her one of the game’s top prospects in the ’27 class. In this game Brady dominated on the offensive end of the field with five goals and one assist for a game high six points, scoring in a variety of ways whether in downhill in transition, or as a result of her off ball movement to get open. On the defensive end she also secured three ground balls and also forced two turnovers. Adding to the offense was Grace Brantuk, Maddy Herr, and Juliann Brzeski each contributing with two goals and one goal each from Natalie Byrnes and Katelynn Murtha. Emery de Lauzon in goal totaled seven saves and as just under 50% in saves. On the opposing side Comsewogue’s Abby Hughes (LIU) had a hat-trick to lead the team in scoring, going 3/4 on 8 meter shots. Kamryn McCrary (JMU) and Gianna McNulty (Binghamton) each scored twice and Jackie Riviezzo (ESU) scored once. Vienna Guzman (Bryant) was a perfect 3/3 on the draw circle.
Excelsior vs Massapequa
Coming into this game with a 2-0 record it was Excelsior taking on Massapequa who was looking for their first win in pool play. It was Excelsior who hung their hats on the defensive end in this one, only allowing six goals for the game and shutting out Massapequa in the first half as they came away with an 8-6 win. Excelsior would lead by as many as five goals in the game, before Massapequa would stage a second half rally, but the strong first half by Excelsior proved to be enough to hold on in the end. In goal in the first half for Excelsior was Maribella Marciano (Lehigh) who made three saves with zero goals allowed, and defender Sophia Mele (Elon) forced two turnovers to lead the team in takeaways, followed by one each from Grace Theofield (Binghamton), Leah Riccardi (Elon) and Jolie Schiavo (JMU). Offensively it was the combination of Emma DiMaio (Stony Brook), Katherine Nabet (Jacksonville), and Jolie Schiavo each scoring two goals. Olivia Kaelin (New Haven) and Emma Greenberg (Florida) added one goal each, with Ashlynn Renkowski (Cornell dishing out two assists and going 3/5 on the draw circle. For Massapequa it was a combination of six different players finding the back of the net as Kali Humann (LIU), Paige Garguilo (Jacksonville), Cassidy Morrow (Siena), Natalie Byrnes, Olivia LoGiudice, and Olivia Morgan all scoring one goal, with Garguilo also recording two assists. In the cage for Massapequa was freshman Emily Fitzgerald who certainly kept them within striking distance with her 12 saves and 60% save percentage.
YJ Torre/Mitchell 2026 vs Sayville Varsity
In a club vs high school matchup the 2026s of YJ Torre/Mitchell faced the state champion Sayville Golden Flashes with YJ entering this game 1-1 and Sayville 2-0. This was a closely contested game but it was Sayville edging out YJ by a final score of 11-9 to improve their record to 3-0 in pool play. Sayville had a slight two goal lead through the first 20 minutes of play, outscoring YJ 6-4, and the two teams played an even second half each scoring five goals. Offensively it was sophomore Dylan McNamara scoring a game high four goals on four shots on goal, followed by three goals each from Sophia Buffardi (UNC) and Sofia Cangelosi (Michigan). Morgan Farrell (Hopkins) and Buffardi were each 2/3 on the draw circle, and on defense in the cage it was another strong game from Vanderbilt commit Julia Lilienthal who saved 10 shots with a 53% save percentage. As for YJ Ava Tiedemann (LIU) recorded a hat-trick to lead them in scoring and Lila Callahan (Hofstra) and Sara Richardt (Binghamton) each struck for two goals. Scoring one goal and dishing out one assist each was Madison Sussi (UMass), and Meadow Szillus (Stony Brook).
Sayville JV vs Westhampton JV
It was the JV edition between Sayville and Westhampton, and this turned out to be a decisive win for the Hurricanes, as they jumped out to an early lead and didn’t look back, winning by a final score of 19-6. In the first half it was the Mia Mastropierro show, as she accounted for six of the 12 goals scored by the Hurricanes through the first 20 minutes of play, and did it with perfect shooting percentage of 100%. With a 12-2 lead at the half, the lead increased in the second half, outscoring Sayville 7-4 for the 13 goal margin of victory. Along with the six goals scored by Mastropierro, Katelyn Salerno and Mackenzie Klammer totaled three goals each, and Emma Luzim and Serafina Dibiaso each scored twice with Luzim also dishing out two assists. Kasey Cangelosi had a game high three assists along with one goal for a four point outing. Defensively Katy Lourenco made a huge impact in both ground balls and caused turnovers, coming up with three of each. On the draw circle Westhampton went 6/7 as a team with Salerno Lily Krentzman each going 2/2 and Lourenco and Karstyn LoRusso going 1/1. For Sayville it was Jillian Livingston and Caitlin Pattilio each finding the back of the net twice, and Jordan Hamill and Kamryn Curran scoring one goal each.
Bayport JV vs Huntington JV
In the final pool play game for both Bayport and Huntington, it was the Phantoms getting a big win by a score of 15-3, sparked by an 8-1 scoring advantage in the first half and a 7-2 advantage in the second half. The win for Bayport gives them a record of 4-1 in pool play going into next week’s playoffs, while Huntington ends pool play at 1-4. Bayport’s offensive standouts included Liliana LiPuma who connected on four goals, and Kaelyn Aiello also scoring four goals while dishing out a game high three assists. Adding three goals along with an assist was Liliana May, while Kylie Jensen, Kayla Bongiorno, Camryn Bruckner, and Leila Rogers scored one goal each. Defensively Bayport had a distinct advantage in turnovers, forcing 26 on the Blue Devils while committing just nine. Liliana LiPuma had a game high three caused turnovers, followed by two each from Kaelyn Aiello, Leila Rogers, and Aila Cahill. For Huntington it was the trio of Olivia Puccio, Brianna Purcell, and Nora Golden scoring one goal each.
Tradition 2029 vs Team 91 Fusion 2028
This was an eighth grade vs ninth grade matchup as Tradition battled 91 Fusion, and this one would go to the young guns of GC winning 17-8 to wrap up pool play on high note with their first win. Kaila Hansman at attack and Ella Melendez at midfield put together standout performances, combining for 11 points with five goals and one assist from Hansman and three goals and two assists from Melendez. But the offense didn’t just stop their as Maddie Leder, Valentina Altamirano, Ava Reni, and Daniella Bacich all added two goals each, and Bacich was also a perfect 6/6 on the draw circle. Tradition held a sizable advantage in both possessions going +13 at 35-22 and also ground balls where they were +26 at 36-10. GC did a tremendous job of taking care of the ball with only nine turnovers from the game opposed to 24 for 91 Fusion. Leading the way with three takeaways was Melendez and Stella Trillhaase forced two turnovers. For 91 Fusion Peyton Gialella continues to be an offensive force, scoring four goals in her second straight game, doing so on four shots on goal. Julianna Florea added four points in the game on one goal and three assists, and scoring one goal each was Kelsie Lanning, Delia Pawlak, and Kaitlyn Rehren. Makayla Blaising was once again over 50% with 18 saves on 35 shots on goal.
Team 91 Thunder 2029 vs YJ Babst 2030
In a matchup between two of the young gun club programs with the eighth graders of 91 Thunder going head-to-head against the seventh graders of YJ Babst it was the final pool play game for each of these teams, and the 2030s of YJ Babst wrapped up pool play on the right foot with a 16-5 win. This supremely talented team saw contributions up and down the roster on both ends of the field. Offensively it was Gabrielle Surdi’s four goals that were enough to lead the team in scoring, but a total of 10 different players came away with at least one goal. Mackenzie Klammer, Maggie Giachetti, and Vivienne Speidell all added two goals each, followed by one goal scored by Jada Leonard, Julia Babst, Ava Ciofrone, Hailey Rosati, Kasey Cangelosi, and Grace Chornoma. One of the plays of the game for YJ Babst came on the goal by Grace Chronoma as a result of an intercepted pass that saw her take the ball coast to coast for the lefty score. The inception was one of two caused turnovers forced by Chornoma, while Maggie Giachetti had a team high three takeaways as well as two each from Julia Babst and Gabrielle Surdi. For 91 Thunder Marlee Cohen struck for two goals to lead the team, and Allie Lizza, Brooke Valentine, and Kyla McGuire added one goal each. Defensively Logan Gialella was a takeaway machine, leading all players in the game with four caused turnovers.
Comsewogue vs Rocky Point
Two of Suffolk County’s contending teams faced off as Comsewogue took on Rocky Point, and in a tightly contested game it was Comsewogue narrowly defeating Rocky Point 9-7. After trailing 4-3 at the half Comsewogue won the second half scoring 6-3 for the come-from-behind win. The trio of Vienna Guzman (Bryant) Kamryn McCrary (JMU) and Gianna McNulty (Binghamton) all accounted for two goals each. Jackie Riviezzo (ESU), Emma Fernandes and Lily Arnone all scored once to round out the offense. In what was a relatively evenly played game by both teams, one of the biggest advantage for Comsewogue was their advantage in shots over Rocky Point with a 26-17 edge. For Rocky Point it was Cadence Adamo and Kaleigh Moeller (FSU) each finding the back of the net twice, and Fiona Vu (Brown), Kylie Lamoureux (Maryland), and Lilian Wood (Saint Leo) scoring once. Despite the loss Breezy Henke (UMass) had another great game in goal with 11 saves and a 55% save percentage.
Huntington Varsity vs YJ Grazidei/Stadler 2027
The pool play finale for both Huntington and YJ Grazidei/Stadler saw the 2027s of YJ come out with a big win by a score of 18-6 to conclude pool play with a 3-1 record going into the playoffs. Continuing to impress this winter was midfielder Olivia Brady who rattled off six goals on six shots on goal, along with one assist for a total of seven points in the game. At attack the combination of Cadence Adamo and Jadyn Stadler were great distributors with four assists from Adamo and three from Stadler. Adamo also added two goals along with one from Stadler. Natalie Byrns, Madison Herr, Dylan McNamara, Katelynn Murtha all contributed with two goals each. Defensively Aliya Leonard led all players in takeaways with three caused turnovers, followed by two from Murtha, and one each from Quinlan Heilbron, Macy Zeilman, Sierra Riepe, Julianna Tietjen, and Madison Herr. Once again Emery de Lauzon had a very stout game in the net with seven saves and a 54% save percentage. For the Blue Devils Valentina Puccio (Hofstra) tallied three goals, Jolie Weinschreider (Rutgers) added two, and Sabrina Boyle (Binghamton) scored once while going 4/7 on the draw circle.
Long Beach vs Mt. Sinai
The Marines and the Mustangs went head-to-head in a Nassau vs Suffolk Clash, and the deciding factor in the game was first half played by Long Beach where they outscored Mt. Sinai 8-4 to lead by four going into halftime. The lead would hold up as goals were at a premium in the second half with each team scoring three goals which gave Long Beach the four goal win by a score of 11-7. This one started off with Marianna Chimienti having the hot hand for Long Beach, scoring five goals in the game all of which came in the first half, including a highlight reel play with a quick stick goal coming at the buzzer to end the first half. Sky Kilfeather (FSU) connected on two goals and dished out three assists for a five point outing, and Sienna Warren added two goals and one assist. Scoring one goal each was Reilly Amorosa and Emma O’Donnell, and Delaney Chernoff (Denver) tallied three assists and was 3/4 on draw controls. In the cage for Long Beach was Saorsie Feerick who made 10 saves and had a save percentage of 59%. The Mustangs offense was sparked by Kyla Orlando’s (Clemson) three goals and one assist, and one goal each from Raegan Chamberlain, Zoe Stonecipher, Cady Flaherty (UVA), and Alexa Spallina (Clemson) who also recorded two assists. Defensively Flaherty led all players with four caused turnovers, and in goal Kathryn Arrington stopped nine shots with a 45% save percentage.
Ward Melville vs Harborfields
In a Class A vs Class C Suffolk Count matchup Ward Melville and Harborfields went head-to-head in the final pool play game for both teams. It was Harborfields who came away with the win by a score of 10-5 finish with a record of 2-1-1 going into the playoffs. They outscored the Patriots 6-3 in the first half and 4-2 in the second half to secure the win. Freshman Nora Ruddy continues to be an offensive force, going for four goals and two assists in the game, and totaling 14 goals and seven assists for 21 points through four games. On the draw circle Ruddy was also a perfect 3/3. Adding two goals a piece were Jamie Medico and Taylor Cavanaugh, while Caroline Gilhuley and Lyla Droskoski each tallied a goal. On the defensive end of the field for Harborfields Devyn Slattery brought plenty of hustle plays that made a difference in the game, coming up with a game high four ground balls. In goal sophomore Ava Kalmar delivered 10 big saves with just the five goals allowed for a 67% save percentage. For the Patriots Olivia Zummo scored two goals, and Aliya Leonard, Nicole Manolakes, and Keira Pirozzi each found the back of the net once.
Sayville Varsity vs Excelsior
A matchup between two teams that entered their last pool play game 3-0, saw this one go to the Golden Flashes over Excelsior by a score of 13-7 to remain perfect going into the playoffs. The first half saw Sayville lead by as many as four goals, but Excelsior had an answer to get back in the game cutting their deficit to just one with Sayville leading 6-5 going into halftime. The second half is where Sayville managed to pull away, outscoring Excelsior 7-2 for the six goal victory. Sayville’s midfield duo of Morgan Farrell (Hopkins) and Sophia Buffardi (UNC) each contributed with three goals, and Buffardi was 5/6 on the draw circle. Abby Galaris (Wesleyan) at attack added two goals and one assist, and scoring one goal each included Sofia Cangelosi (Michigan), Olivia DeSimone (FSU), Leah Babcock, Sienna Lahmann, and Dylan McNamara. On the other side Excelsior was led by the hat-trick from Jolie Schiavo (JMU) followed by two goals and one assist from Ashlynn Renkowski (Cornell), one goal and two assists from Alyssa Lorefice (Rutgers), and one goal from Emma Greenberg (Florida). Defensively Kate Ross had a game high three caused turnovers for Excelsior.
Rocky Point vs Garden City
The Eagles and the Trojans faced off in what was one of the most competitive matchups of the day from start to finish. Both teams came into the game looking warp up pool play with a 3-1 record, and by the slimmest of margins this game went to Garden City by a score of 12-11. Holding a slight 7-6 lead through the first 20 minutes of play proved to be the difference as the two teams each scored five goals in the second half. It was a four goal, one assist performance by UPenn commit Michaela Molgano which led the offense for Garden City, followed by two goals and one assist each for Deanna Prisco (Northwestern) and Arci Haffner (Holy Cross). Katie Horn had a big presence on the draw circle going 5/6. In the goal Kate Connolly racked up 10 saves with a save percentage just under 50%. Rocky Point’s Kaleigh Moeller (FSU) and Kylie Lamoureux (Maryland) produced big games, each scoring four goals and Lamoureux also adding one assist. Also adding three points each was Cadence Adamo with two goals and one assist and Fiona Vu (Brown) with one goal and two assists. In the cage Breezy Henke (UMass) stopped eight shots, giving her a total of 27 saves through three games with a 51% save percentage.
Commack vs Manhasset
Class A Commack and Class C Manhasset got together for the final pool play game for each team, and it was Manhasset winning their third straight game after dropping their opener to finish with a 3-1 record going into the playoffs. The first half of the game is what ended up being the difference with Manhasset holding an 8-4 lead at the half followed by the two teams playing an even second half each scoring five goals. Rebecca Alcaraz and Danielle Perfetto each struck for three goals in the game and Perfetto was also 2/3 on the draw circle. The trio of Elim Yang (Princeton), Natalie Mascitti (Hamilton), and Harper Lambert (Duke) tallied two goals each with Mascitti and Lambert also dishing out two assists and forcing two turnovers on defense. Stanford bound goalie Ruby Cacioppo stopped eight shots and was just under 50% in saves. Commack was led offensively by Emily Parisi’s (Sacred Heart) three goals and a two goal and two assist performance by Aubrey Maurer (UConn).
YJ Voss 2026 vs GC Tradition
A battle between club programs as YJ Voss faced Tradition and in a shootout it was YJ Voss earning a four goal win by a score of 16-12. The offense was on full display, led by four goals scored by Vienna Guzman (Bryant), and three goals each from Mischa Fernandes (Stony Brook), Kaleigh Howard (Old Dominion) and Taylor Murtha (Sacred Heart). On the draw circle Guzman was 60% going 3/5. Emerson Goettelmann (Rhode Island) scored three goals to lead Tradition, while Michaela Molgano (UPenn) and Kathryn Monaco (Villanova) scored twice. Sophie Deifel (Binghamton) went 3/5 on the draw circle for a 60% winning percentage.
Massapequa v YJ Torre/Mitchell 2026
A high school vs club matchup between Massapequa and YJ Torre/Mitchell, saw the 2026s of YJ win this one by a score of 14-7 to conclude pool play with a 2-2 record heading into the playoffs. It was an 8-5 advantage for YJ through the first 20 minutes of play, and they added to their lead in the second half outscoring Massapequa 6-2. The story for YJ was on the defensive end with the play of their two goalies Maribella Marciano (Lehigh) and Hailey Stratton (UNC Charlotte). In the first half it was Marciano in the cage saving shots at a 55% rate, and in came Stratton in the second half going 67% in saves. On the offensive end a total of nine different players scored at least once for YJ, with Carly Amato (UMass) finding the back of the net three times to lead the team, and two goals from Lila Callahan (Hofstra), Gianna McNulty (Binghamton), and Madison Sussi (UMass). Sussi along with Kamryn McCrary (JMU) also recorded two assists each. Massapequa’s Grace Hoffman (Hopkins) totaled three goals and one assist to lead the team, with two goals coming from Natalie Byrns, and one goal each from Molly Hoffman and Olivia LoGiudice who also dished out two assists.
Massapequa vs Wantagh
It was the second of two straight games for Massapequa and this one was against the neighboring Wantagh Warriors. Massapequa relied on a great game defensively, holding Wantagh to just five goals in the game to win it by a score of 8-5. In the cage freshman Emily Fitzgerald was a brick wall with just the five goals allowed and a total of nine saves for a 64% save percentage. Defender Molly Solnick the Mercy commit was a force on the defensive end, coming up with a game high six ground balls as well as two caused turnovers. The offense for Massapequa was sparked by Grace Hoffman with three goals and two scored by Kaitlyn Ogurick. Adding one goal each was Paige Garguilo (Jacksonville), Natalie Byrns, and Molly Hoffman. The Warriors five goals came from Sabrina Asadurian (Stony Brook) who had a hat-trick, and Juliana Cerasi (JMU) and Mia Dankenbrink, each scoring once. On the draw circle Cerasi was 60% in draw controls going 3/5. Madeline Gonzalez (Iona) was in the net in the second half going 55% in saves with six stops on 11 shots.
Mount Sinai vs St. Anthony’s Gold
The Mustangs and Friars battled it out playing what was a very competitive contest that wasn’t decided until the closing minutes of the second half. This one was a 5-5 game through the first half, setting the stage for a must watch second half where it was the Mustangs edging out the Friars in the second half 7-5 to come away with a 12-10 win. For Alexa Spallina the Clemson bound attacker it was another day at the office with six goals and two assists for eight points while also going 3/4 on the draw circle. UVA commit Cady Flaherty also added two goals along with two assists. St. Anthony’s saw a hat-trick from Noelle Meenan followed by two goals for Cameron Pupke (Princeton) and two goals and one assist each for Casey Torre (Stony Brook) and Madison Sussi (UMass). Goalie Sofia Moschitta (Stony Brook) tallied six saves with a 46% save percentage and Gabriella Lemieux (LIU) stopped four shots with a 44% save percentage.
St. Anthony’s Black vs YJ Gaghan/Torre 2027
Coming into this game with a 3-0 record were the Friars against the 2027s of YJ Gaghan/Torre looking for their first win in pool play, but it was St. Anthony’s with a big win by a score of 19-7 to conclude pool play undefeated with a 4-0 record. Once again it was the FSU bound attacker Katherine Rathjen putting together another dominant game, going off for eight goals and three assists for an 11 point outing. Through four games Rathjen leads the entire league in goals with 24 and total points with 36. Madison Sussi (UMass) added another four goals for the Friars and Molly Hiney (Hopkins) totaled six points with two goals and four assists while going 5/6 on the draw circle. Lafayette commit Emma Toner found the back of the net twice and Binghamton commit Peighton McNulty scored once with one assist. In goal for the Friars was Jess Black going 56% in saves with nine total saves on 16 shots on goal. On the offensive end for YJ Megan Florio and Tierney McEntee accounted for two goals each while the trio of Liliana May, Reagan Schindler, and Stamatia Almiroudis all scored once.
Bayport Varsity vs FLG 2027
In the first of two straight games for the Phantoms they cruised to a big over the 2027s of FLG by a score of 24-6, getting big games from their dynamic playmakers in the senior class. Ava Meyn (Maryland) put together a complete game, going off for seven goals, one assist, four caused turnovers and was 6/9 on the draw circle. Erika Kreuscher (Stony Brook) struck for five goals and two assists, and Aubrie Eisfeld (Clemson) had four goals, six ground balls and two caused turnovers. Eva Carvalho (Albany) added a hat-trick with one assist, Olivia Brady scored twice with one assist, and Sara Richardt (Binghamton) added two goals. Towson commit Kailey Bruckner dished out three assists and scored once for four points. Defensively Kayla Bongiorno also created four takeaways matching Meyn for the team lead. For FLG they continue to be led by Danielle Perfetto who scored twice to go along with two assists.
GC Tradition vs Bayport Varsity
The second of back-to-back games for the Phantoms saw them pick up another big win, this one over GC Tradition who entered this game short-handed. The 26-4 win for Bayport gives them a perfect 4-0 record in pool play and the top overall seed in their bracket. Picking up where they left off Ava Meyn (Maryland) filled the stat sheet once again with five goals, one assist and 5/7 on draw controls. Aubrie Eisfeld also had another dominant game with four goals, two assists, and six balls off the ground. Olivia Brady, Erika Kreuscher (Stony Brook), and Liliana May all connected for three goals with Brady and Kreuscher adding two assists and May adding one. Eva Carvalho (Albany) led the team with five assists in the game along with two goals, and Emma Shanahan (Quinnipiac), Sara Richardt (Binghamton) and Kayla Bongiorno all scored two goals as well. As a team the Phantoms caused 14 turnovers led by two each from Carvalho, Peyton D’Angelo and Emma Brown (Stanford). On the other side, Traditions four goals were scored by four different players, as Harper Semlies, Zoe Wood, Daniella Lago, and Alexandra Case accounted for one goal each.
