The match saw the two teams tied at 2-2 before Ward Melville went on to outscore Comsewogue 4-2 the rest of the half to take a 7-4 lead going into halftime.
This momentum continued into the second half, with Ward Melville adding six more goals while holding Comsewogue to just two additional goals, resulting in a final score of 13-6.
Key performances included Ward Melville’s Kate Spinks the Brown commit, who scored five goals to lead all scorers, while Amelia Pirozzi the Marist commit, contributing 3 goals and 1 assist. Villanova commit Grace Balocca also played a significant role with a hat-trick. Adding two assists for the Patriots was the sophomore Mia Modica. Defensively Ward Melville’s top defenders in Penn commits Peyton Phillips and Olivia Comerford made their presence felt with Phillips tallying a ground ball, a caused turnover, and an assist, while Comerford came away with three takeaways. Their young gun Quinlan Heilbron also added a ground ball for the Ward Melville defense.
On the Comsewogue side, their sophomores Gianna McNulty and Kamryn McCrary continue to have standout efforts as McNulty recorded three goals, while McCrary filled it up all-around with two goals, three ground balls and a caused turnover.
