Coming in at number 2 in the LILJ top 25 preseason rankings are the Chaminade Flyers, one of the perennial powerhouses in the country. The Flyers are always in contention for the CHSAA Championship and play some of the top ranked teams across the country. Last year saw them go 11-4 and they came up just a few goals short against rival St. Anthony’s in the championship game. At the helm is longtime head coach Jack Moran and this season they have a supremely talented group of juniors and seniors that will ignite this team to contention against the best and a chance at the championship at the end of the season. During the winter the Flyers were once again a participant in the LILJ High School Winter League and won the winter league championship for the third consecutive year.

The Flyers offense welcomes back a loaded attack group with the trio of Connor Kuttin (Hopkins), James Gillis (Duke) and John Balsamo (UVA). The senior Kuttin had over 40 points last year and in the winter league led the Flyers in scoring with 19 goals and 9 assists for 28 points. Juniors Gillis and Balsamo were two rarities as varsity players in their sophomore year and had impactful seasons with over 40 points from Gillis and over 20 points from Balsamo. Adding to their attack is senior Cooper Mendelsohn both committed to Wesleyan. At midfield their leading scorer is Gavin Lynch who’s committed to Notre Dame and recorded 45 points last season and adding to their returning midfield is senior Sean Connolly (Boston University). Two juniors to look out for this season entering their first year on varsity are Will Ferraro-Reich (Richmond) and Michael Mayerhofer (Towson). At the face-off X is senior Quinn Ball (UPenn) who is one of the top FOGO’s in the nation. Ball has been selected to wear the prestigious number 19 this season in honor of Flyers legend Sargent James Regan. On defense the team returns long poles Gavin Fitzpatrick (Hopkins), Louis D’Agostino (Syracuse) and Will Arendt (Catholic) in the senior class and junior Gavin Duran. The defense will be without 2024 graduate Ben Fox the current freshman at the University of North Carolina. In goal the Flyers have plenty of goalie depth with seniors Jack Durnan (Holy Cross), Lukas Takvor (Hamilton) and Thomas Giannotti (Haverford) along with junior Kieran Walsh (Notre Dame), one of the premier goalies in the 2026 class.
