Bayport Blue Point Showcases Dominance in LILJ Winter League Against Smithtown East


It was an impressive first game for the reigning state champion Bayport Blue Point Phantoms who secured a commanding 20-0 victory over Smithtown East in the LILJ Winter League game on Sunday, December 3, at 8:30 am. The game, held at the Stony Brook University Indoor Complex, was a demonstration of a complete game both offensively and defensively for the Phantoms.

From the onset, Bayport Blue Point established a substantial lead in the first half, scoring 10 goals while effectively shutting out Smithtown East. They continued this dominant performance in the second half, adding another 10 goals to their score. Smithtown East, who was without a handful of key players, struggled to find their rhythm and were unable to score throughout the game.

Key players for Bayport Blue Point included the future Maryland Terp Ava Meyn and Sara Richardt, who led the scoring with 5 and 4 goals respectively. Erika Kreuscher the lefty attacker who will soon be suiting up for the Seawolves, also made significant contributions with 3 goals and 2 assists, showcasing her offensive prowess. Other notable performances came from Muse commit Aubrie Eisfeld with 3 goals and Kailey Bruckner, who contributed 1 goal, 1 assist and a team high 3 caused turnovers. Between the lines and on the draw circle, Kayla Vazquez, the senior going to Rider was everywhere on the field resulting in the win.

Smithtown East faced challenges in both their offensive and defensive game, as reflected in the final score, but will look to have their full compliment of players moving forward.

The match showcased Bayport Blue Point’s unselfish play and just how dangerous they are defensively especially when it comes to their ability to ride the ball.

In week 2 the Phantoms will be matched up against Garden City Tradition who is also 1-0 at 10:00 am, and for Smithtown East who was without players including Jenna Soto, Jayden Piraino, and Sophia Conti, they aim for a bounce back game when they play 0-1 Connetquot at 7:00 am.
