Katherine Rathjen and Stella Quilty Fuel 2025 Friars to 12-6 Win Over Manhasset

The final game of the day in pool play of the girls HSWL featured the SA Friars 25 team against the Manhasset Indians. In this public vs parochial clash it was the Friars who came away with a 12-6 win due to a strong second half that saw them take command of the game. The first half started off in Manhasset’s favor as they took a 2-0 lead before the Friars went on a 5-1 scoring run the rest of the way to take a 5-3 lead going into halftime. The second was where they really took control of the game, outscoring Manhasset 7-3 due to a combination of offensive ball movement and top tier goaltending.

Stepping up for the Friars was the Fairfield bound attacker Katherine Rathjen leading all players with five goals in the game. Holy Cross commit Holly Hardwick also made a huge presence in the game with a hat-trick as well as four ground balls. The difference maker in this one defensively was Rutgers bound goaltender Stella Quilty who made seven saves with a save percentage of 52%.

Manhasset’s efforts in the scoring department were led by sophomore Harper Lamberts two goals, while freshman Danielle Perfetto led the team both in ground balls and caused turnovers coming away with three of each.

In the first round of the playoffs SA 25 will take on Commack on January 3rd at 8:45pm, and Manhasset will face GC Tradition on January 7th at 9:15am.
