SA 2025 Notches 14-7 win over Commack to Advance to Quarterfinals

The Friars 2025 team and Commack faced off in the opening night of the HSWL playoffs on Wednesday evening in the 6 vs 11 matchup. This game was victorious by the 6th seeded Friars over Commack by a score of 14-7 to advance to the quarterfinals of the AAA bracket.

In the first half the Frairs jumped out to an early lead and outscored Commack 6-2 in the first 20 minutes of play. The offense continued to keep the momentum going as they tallied another eight goals in the second half to Commack’s five brining the score to a 14-7 final.

St. Anthony’s was ignited by the Hopkins commit Molly Hiney who not only scored three goals but was all over field, recording three ground balls and also winning 75% of draws going 3/4. Also adding three goals was Lafayette commit Emma Toner, while Fairfield commit Kat Rathjen scored twice and added two assists. The Friars got two goals each from Cameron Pupke, Anna Christie, and Mallie Gardner, as well as two ground balls and one assist from Madison Sussi. In the cage for the majority of the game was Jess Black the Army commit who limited Commack’s scoring opportunities as she made six saves with a 66% save percentage.

On the other side, Commack was fueled by Stony Brook commit Lili Pettit’s three goals, and saw one goal each from Stony Brook bound Amelia Brite, UConn commit Aubrey Maurer, Army commit Emma Hendry, and Bella Campa.

Next up for the Friars in the playoffs is a matchup against the 3rd seeded YJ Grazidei/Stadler on January 11th at 8:45pm. Commack moves to the consolation bracket where they will play Westhampton on January 7th at 4:00pm.
