No. 23 Ranked Longwood Lions Team Preview

At number 23 in the LILJ top 24 preseason rankings in high school boys lacrosse are the Longwood Lions. Last season saw Longwood achieve a lot of things that made 2023 a success, including a 10 win season overall which is the most in the history of the program, and a Suffolk Class A playoff appearance and first round win against Bay Shore which hasn’t happened since 1995. After getting a taste of the playoffs the Lions can now enter this season with the expectations to make the playoffs for a second consecutive season.

No. 23 Ranked Smithtown East Bulls Team Preview

Next on the LILJ top 24 preseason rankings are the Smithtown East Bulls coming in at number 23. Coached by BrieClaire Sheehy the Bulls were 10-5 in the regular season last year and got into the playoffs as a five seed where they defeated both fourth seeded Commack and top seeded Ward Melville to make it all the way to the Suffolk Class A County Finals where they gave the reigning two-time Long Island champion Northport Tigers everything they had where their season came to an end. This season the Bulls are back after having played in the LILJ HSWL as they gear up for what they hope is another strong season.

No. 24 Ranked Kings Park Kingsmen Team Preview

Opening up the LILJ top 24 preseason rankings in high school boys lacrosse are the Kingsmen of Kings Park. They’re back in 2024 after a 9-7 regular season in 2023 which was good enough to qualify for the playoffs in Suffolk Class C where their season came to an end in the opening round against Shoreham Wading-River. The roster departed some key players from last year’s team, but still see plenty of returning players that will be looking to take this team right back to the playoffs in 2024.

No. 24 Ranked Connetquot Thunderbirds Team Preview

As we begin the LILJ top 24 preseason rankings in high school girls lacrosse, we start with the Connetquot Thunderbirds of Suffolk Class A. Led by longtime head coach Sal Piscitelli, they enter the new season after a very competitive 2023 in which they went 9-7 in the regular season and appeared in the playoffs where they won a first round playoff game against Longwood before being defeated by Ward Melville in the quarterfinals. This year they come into the season with plenty of familiar faces that were integral in making last year a success, and are fresh off of playing in the LILJ HSWL to gear up for the spring.

2024 High School Season Boys Team Previews

The 2024 high school season is now just a little more than two weeks away. Every team comes into the season with a fresh start and a chance to set new goals as a team for the spring, hoping that they will be reached by season’s end. In the coming days and weeks leading up to the start of regular season gameplay the LILJ will be releasing it’s top 24 preseason rankings and team previews, but before the top 24s, let’s take a look at some of the high school boys teams to watch going into the season!

2024 High School Season Girls Team Previews

With the start of the 2024 season just around the corner, it’s a great time to start taking a dive into the many teams across the island as they get ready to hit the ground running this spring. The slate is clean for every team going into the new season as aspirations and team goals vary from program to program. Soon the LILJ will be releasing it’s top 24 preseason rankings going into the 2024 season, but before the top 24 teams, let’s preview some of the island’s high school girls teams to watch as we get closer and closer to the first week of regular season games.

LILJ Announces new Partnership with E.A.S.T Fitness LI

As we head into the 2024 high school spring season, the LILJ is proud to announce its new partnership with E.A.S.T Fitness LI led by Mike Kaplan who’s been training for 15 plus years and his team of professional trainers. E.A.S.T. which stands for Endurance Agility Speed Training is based out of the 40,000 square foot turf field space of Premier Sports in Hauppauge NY, and they train athletes from all over Long Island across various sports. Priding themselves on taking athletes to new heights, E.A.S.T. Fitness increases overall speed and acceleration, first step explosion, quickness, improves agility, maximizes stamina, endurance and more!

LILJ Girls Class of 2026 Watch-List

The sophomore class is bracing for what is a very important high school spring season leading up to what will be a big summer, as many of them are striving to be recruited where they can take their game to the collegiate level. Many in this class can already say that they are established varsity players with at least one year of experience under their belt and are expected to have seismic roles for their respective high school teams this season, while plenty are striving to make the varsity roster for the first time, or will likely be playing on supremely talented JV teams. With less than two months before the start of the 2024 high school season, the LILJ Presents the Class of 2026 Girls Watch-List!

LILJ Boys Class of 2026 Watch-List

With the ’26 class in the process of touring colleges and attending prospect days as they begin to think about where they hope to possibly play at the next level, this the opportunity for them to have an impactful season for their high school team this spring. Many of these sophomores already have a year of varsity experience under their belts after making the team as a freshman, while many are aiming to make their varsity roster or will likely be playing for very high level JV programs. With the upcoming season rapidly approaching, the LILJ Presents the Class of 2026 Boys Watch-List!

LILJ Girls Class of 2025 Watch-List

As we continue to get closer and closer to the beginning of the 2024 high school season, it’s surely to be a big one for those in the Class of 2025 who are now upperclassmen and many of them newly committed to play at the collegiate level. There are also still a high number of juniors that are still in search of their future home and are hoping to have a huge 2024 campaign or have an enhanced role for their respective high school teams in hopes of a promising season.
