Shoreham Wading River Outplays Comsewogue in LILJ Winter League Match


In a dynamic and high-scoring LILJ Winter League game, Shoreham Wading River emerged victorious with a 16-9 win over Comsewogue. The game, played on December 3 at 12:15 pm at the Stony Brook University Indoor Complex, was a matchup between two playoff teams last season representing Suffolk County Class B and C.

Shoreham Wading River set the pace early in the game, establishing a 7-5 lead in the first half. Their momentum continued into the second half, where they increased the lead, adding 9 more goals to their score. Comsewogue, was just unable to decrease the margin as the Wildcats came away with a 7 goal victory.

Notable performances from Shoreham Wading River included the freshman phenom Madison Herr, who led the scoring with 3 goals. Grayce Kitchen who’s bound for Louisville in two years, contributed 2 goals and 1 assist, and Morgan Lesiewicz the Lehigh commit along with University of Pittsburgh commit Reese Marcario each added 2 goals. The team’s production collectively on the offensive end was vital in securing the win.

Despite the loss for Comsewogue, the pair of scintillating sophomores Kamryn McCrary and Gianna McNulty each stood out between McCrary’s 4 goals, and McNulty’s 2 goals and 4 assist effort. Abby Hughes the recent LIU commit also contributed with a pair of goals.

Up next in week 2 for the Wildcats is an early morning matchup at 7:45 against the 1-0 Ward Melville Patriots. Comsewogue will take the field in the afternoon at 2:45 when they face the Sacred Heart Spartans who are also in search of their first win.
