In a competitive LILJ Winter League game in the JV bracket, St. Anthony’s 2027 emerged victorious against the 2029 YJ Friedman team with an 11-8 final score. The match, played on December 3 at 1:00 pm at the Stony Brook University Indoor Complex, was a display of emerging lacrosse talent between freshmen and seventh graders.
The game started off with St. Anthony’s 2027 taking a lead in the first half, scoring 5 goals in what was their first competitive game together as a team, compared to YJ Friedman’s 3 goals. Their offensive momentum continued into the second half, adding 6 more goals to maintain their lead. YJ Friedman found their footing offensively in the second half and were just a run away the entirety of the game, as they scored 5 second half goals, but it wasn’t enough to bridge the gap created in the first half.

YJ Friedman saw impressive performances from Natalie Takacs and Olivia Leopardi, each scoring 2 goals. Ella Schopp and Arianna Focarile added a goal each to the team’s effort. In goal, Natalie Barth and Julia Ver Straten shared responsibilities, with Barth saving 37% of the shots on goal.
