Westhampton JV Moves to 1-0 With Week 1 Win Over Yellow Jackets Duswalt

Westhampton JV opened the first week of pool play with a big victory over Yellow Jackets Duswalt 2029 in the recent LILJ High School Winter League game at Stony Brook University Indoor Sports Complex. The final score stood at 18-1, favoring Westhampton JV, as the young 2029 Duswalt team played in just their first ever winter league game.

Westhampton’s offense was relentless, with standout performances from Jo Derby, who scored an impressive 4 goals and assisted 1, and Lily Johnson, contributing 3 goals and 2 assists. Mia Mastropierro also shone brightly, adding 2 goals and an assist to the team’s tally. The team’s defensive prowess was equally commendable, with Ava Failla securing 2 ground balls and causing 2 turnovers.

In contrast, Yellow Jackets Duswalt struggled to find their footing against the elder Westhampton defense. Giovanna Livingston managed to score the lone goal for her team. Defensively, Camryn Hagan and Harper Karp made notable efforts with 2 caused turnovers each. Goalkeepers Zoe Chiclacos and Amelia Grausso faced a high volume of shots, with Grausso saving 6 at a 40% rate.

Week 2 we’ll see Yellow Jackets Duswalt face Ward Melville’s JV team at 8:30 am, while Westhampton will be in the building in the afternoon at 3:15 going against Yellow Jackets Friedman.
