Hills Overpowers Rust & Gold in a Decisive Victory

In an impressive first game in the HSWL, the boys from Half Hollow Hills secured a decisive victory over Rust & Gold in their matchup at the Stony Brook University Indoor Complex dating back on December 3. The final score, standing at 9-2, reflected Hills’ dominant performance particularly in the second half where they managed to pull away.

The first 20 minutes of play is when this game was up for grabs, as Hills took a slight halftime lead, scoring 3 goals to Rust & Gold’s 1, but their momentum really picked up in the second half where they added an additional 6 goals. James Bruno was a standout player for Hills, scoring 4 goals to lead all players. Anthony Raio the 2025 standout going to UNC also contributed with 1 goal and 1 assist. Goalkeeper Salvatore Santoro made an impact with 6 saves, achieving a 75% save rate. At the face-off X Nico Ghicas the Air Force commit came away with 5/9 face-offs.

Rust & Gold, while putting up a fight, struggled to keep pace. Long pole Luka Binsol was a notable performer, scoring 1 goal. Andrew McKenzie was in the net the entirety of the game and recored 7 saves.
