Commack Notches First Win by 12-4 Score Over Miller Place

In week 2 of pool play in the HSWL, Commack emerged victorious over Miller Place with a final score of 12-4. The game, held at Stony Brook University Indoor Complex, was a battle between two teams eyeing their first win.

Commack’s victory was a team effort, with multiple players contributing to the scoreline. Stony Brook commit Amelia Brite led the charge with three goals, while sophomore Gabriella Brown and Adelphi bound Michaela Burke each added two goals. Burke also displayed impressive playmaking skills, providing two assists. Bella Campa, Aubrey Maurer the UConn commit, and Emily Parisi the Sacred Heart commit each scored a goal, with Maurer also assisting once.

For Miller Place, key players included Mirabella Altebrando and Lyla Coffey, each scoring a goal. Merrimack bound Sophia Ingenito stood out with her performance, contributing two goals. Despite their efforts, Miller Place just wasn’t able to generate enough offense.

The game began with Commack taking an early lead, scoring five goals in the first half while Miller Place managed three. The second half saw Commack strengthen their lead, adding seven more goals to their tally. Miller Place could only manage one goal in this half, leading to their defeat.

Commack’s goalie, Olivia Bezmalinovic, had a remarkable game, saving 60% of the shots against her. The match was a testament to Commack’s strong offense and solid defense, which were pivotal in securing their win.

Commack’s next opponent will be Team Excelsior this Sunday morning at 7:45, while Miller Place will look to bounce back in their upcoming game against Long Beach also on Sunday at 10:45am.
