Manhasset Demonstrates Offensive Firepower in 13-10 Win Over ESM

Two contending teams in the Manhasset Indians and the ESM Sharks matched up on this past Sunday at the Stony Brook University Indoor Complex, where Manhasset showed that they are a force to be reckoned with in the winter league, prevailing with a 13-10 win over ESM thanks to a strong second half effort.

The first half was closely contested, and it was the Sharks initially taking the lead, jumping out in front 4-1 in the early stages. They matched their total from last week of 7 goals in the first half, and held a 7-5 lead over Manhasset going into halftime.

In the second half, Manhasset turned the tables, significantly outscoring the Sharks. Similar to their first game against Sayville, they used a big offensive outburst to rally back and reclaim the lead. They added eight goals to their tally while ESM managed only three more goals.

Leading the charge for Manhasset’s offense was the Vanderbilt commit Shea Panzik who erupted for eight goals, looking unstoppable throughout the second half. Adding to the scoring was the sophomore Taylor Gordon who recorded three goals. Manhasset saw a number of players record multiple caused turnovers as UVA commit Alexia Giannakopoulos led the way with three, followed by two each from Madeleine Chun the Dartmouth commit, Holly Newman the Cornell commit, GW commit Ava St. Jeanos, Hamilton commit Leyna Schlaefer, and Catherine Hanan. In the net for the second half was Jordyn Landman who came up with timely saves when Manhasset needed them to preserve the lead.

For ESM the future Cincinnati Bearcat Amanda Sweeney once again had a big game with six points, tallying four goals and two assists. Also adding to the mix for ESM was Taylor Murtha with two goals, and one goal along with an assist for Kate Valenti.

ESM is still in search of their first win and will face Sayville in early morning showdown at 7:00 on Sunday, while next up for Manhasset will be a matchup against the 2025 St. Anthony’s team at 3:15pm also on Sunday.
