Westhampton Surges past South Side to Move to 2-0


In a Nassau vs Suffolk South Shore match at the Stony Brook University Indoor Complex, Westhampton faced off against South Side where they managed to come away with an 11-6 win to give them their second win in pool play.

The first half of the match was neck and neck with both teams showing why they each came into the game with a 1-0 record. Westhampton and South Side ended the first half with the Hurricanes leading by a score of 5-4, leaving this one up for grabs going into the second half.

Coming out of halftime, Westhampton ramped up their performance, adding six more goals to their tally, while South Side, despite their strong start, managed to score only one goal in the second half between Westhampton’s defense able to turn South Side over and the strong goalie play in the second half by Penn commit Maya Farnan. The game concluded with Westhampton emerging victorious with a final score of 11-6.

Instrumental in the victory Westhampton was once again the play of UNC commit Reese King between her five goals, three ground balls, and ability to control the draw circle. Chipping in with two goals each were sophomore Ava Derby and Peyton Worby the Wagner commit, while Hailey Donahue was a standout defender for the Hurricanes.

The Cyclones saw a hat-trick performance from UVM bound Caitlin Haggerty, and two goals from Avery Testa the William and Mary commit. In the ground ball department they were led by Northwestern commit Sienna Connolly’s three ground balls, followed by two each from. Annie Chimienti and Stony Brook commit Morgan Harloff.

Next up for Westhampton will be a matchup against the 2026 St. Anthony’s Friars this Sunday at 10:00am, while South Side is locked in for a matchup against Rocky Point at 1:45 Sunday afternoon.
