St. Anthony’s Seniors use Strong First Half to Beat Huntington

This past Sunday at Stony Brook University Indoor Complex, the St. Anthony’s seniors faced nearby Huntington in a game that’s saw the Friars in control with a 17-3 win. St. Anthony’s set the tone in the first half, with their large sum of division 1 commits scoring ten goals, while holding Huntington to only two.

Continuing their momentum, the Friars added seven more goals in the second half. and held the Blue Devils to just one goal in the final 20 minutes.

For St. Anthony’s, UNC bound Tess Calabria found the back for the net for five goals and assisted on two, while Megan Kenny the future Terp added five goals and an assist. Other contributors included USF found Jena Binkis with two goals and Holly Hardwick the Holy Cross commit with a goal and an assist. Between their two senior goalies in Lexi Zenk and Stella Quilty, they each had elite save percentages with Zenk the UNC commit saving 66% of shots and Quilty the Rutgers commit with an 85% save percentage.

Huntington’s effort was highlighted by Kayleigh Bender the Hofstra commit and Jolie Weinschreider, each scoring a goal and an assist. The Blue Devils also got a goal from one their young guns Grace Kline who’s in the 2027 class.

Next up for the Friars is matchup this Thursday night at 8:45 against the 2-0 Wantagh Warriors, while Huntington is back Sunday afternoon at 2:30 against 1-1 Smithtown West.
