Jake Martini’s Seven Goals Fuels Wantagh Past Syosset

Wantagh and Syosset clashed this past Sunday in the final night of pool play of the Boys HSWL. This matchup was a very evenly matched first half as the two teams played to a 4-4 game after the first 20 minutes of play making it appear like this one was going to go down to the wire the entire way. However in the second half Wantagh was able to take control as they outscored Syosset 6-1 to defeat Syosset 10-5 and conclude pool play with a 2-1 record while Syosset dropped to 0-3.

The difference in the game for Wantagh was the dominant game from Army bound midfielder Jake Martini who took over the game and finished with a game-high seven goals to put the Warriors over the edge. The battle at face-off X also went Wantagh’s way as Will Greaves the Adelphi commit went 8/15 and helped Wantagh maintain the edge in possessions especially in the second half.

For Syosset, they were led by the Hopkins commit David Disque who had a team-high four goals while Gio Accardo tallied two assists for the Braves.

Going into the playoffs Wantagh has a first round matchup against Massapequa at 5:45pm on January 4th, while Syosset plays that same evening against the Chaminade Flyers at 8:00pm.
