Sayville Earns Big Win Over ESM in Final Pool Play Game

In an early morning lacrosse clash at the Stony Brook University Indoor Complex, Sayville emerged victorious over the ESM Sharks with a powerful display teamwork. The game saw Sayville take an early lead, scoring seven goals in the first half, while the ESM Sharks managed three. Sayville continued their dominant performance in the second half, adding nine more goals. The ESM Sharks, despite their efforts, could only score an additional three goals, bringing the final score to 16-6 in favor of Sayville.

Standout players for Sayville included Marquette commit McKenna Farrell and Michigan commit Sofia Cangelosi, with Farrell scoring four goals and one assist and Cangelosi contributing four goals. Sayville’s freshman middie/attacker Dylan McNamara continues to impress as she tallied four points with three goals and one assist along with three ground balls. Jenna Messina and Abby Galaris also made a notable impact with two goals for Messina and one goal and two assists for Galaris. Defensively Olivia DeSimone was a big part of Sayville’s lockdown defense and being able clear the ball at a high success rate.

The ESM Sharks saw contributions from Molly McGuire and Katelynn Murtha, each scoring a goal and assisting another.

In the goalkeeping department, Sayville’s Julia Lilienthal made five saves with a 45% success rate, while ESM Sharks’ Ashley Langdon the Hopkins commit saved six shots at a 46% rate.

Getting the playoffs started for these two teams, Sayville faces YJ Torre/Mitchell at 7:45 am on January 7th, while ESM is in action that same day at 11:30am against Miller Place.
