Commack Surges Past Team Excelsior With Big Second Half

In an early morning lacrosse game at the Stony Brook University Indoor Complex, Commack displayed a strong performance against Excelsior. The match started off competitively, with Commack holding a narrow lead of 7-6 at halftime. The second half is when the Cougars took control of the game, scoring an impressive 11 goals. Excelsior scored five goals in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to keep up Commack’s second half barrage, resulting in an 18-11 victory for the Cougars.

Key contributors for Commack included UConn bound Aubrey Maurer, who made a notable impact with two goals and three assists, and Lili Pettit the future Stony Brook Seawolf, scoring three goals and adding two assists. Fellow future Seawolf Amelia Brite also tallied three goals. Army commit Emma Hendry also played a significant role, contributing four goals. Adding to the offensive outburst for Commack included their two young guns in freshman Samantha Benedict and eighth grader Ashley Arizonis each scoring a goal. In the ground ball department Bucknell bound Kate Hearns along with Brite each recorded two ground balls.

Excelsior’s effort was led by Bryant commit Payton Noack with four goals and Madison O’Hagan the freshman from Seaford, scoring three goals.

Going into the playoffs Commack has an opening round matchup against SA 2025 on January 3rd at 8:45pm. Team Excelsior opens up the playoffs January 7th at 1:00pm against Huntington.
