South Side Prevails Against Rocky Point 10-8

In a clash between south shore’s South Side Cyclones and north shore’s Rocky Point Eagles, this one was a tight game the entire way but in the end it was the team from Nassau County in the Cyclones who narrowly came away with a 10-8 win to finish pool play with a 2-1 record, while Rocky Point concluded with a 1-2 record. After the game was even at 5-5 going into halftime, this difference was in the ladder 20 minutes of play where South Side outscored Rocky Point 5-3 to secure the win.

South Side’s attack duo of Caitlin Haggerty the UVM commit and Avery Testa the William and Mary commit were unable to be stopped as they each managed to score four goals to provide the jolt the Cyclones needed to come away with the win. The battle on the draw circle predominantly went South Side’s way as sophomore Ava Curtis was 83% going 5/6. Northwestern commit Sienna Connolly and Charlotte Testerman each tallied two ground balls while Connolly also struck for a goal in the victory. In the net for South Side was Ava Ceglia the Lynn commit who came away with six saves on 14 shots.

On the other side Rocky Point’s key players included the Maryland bound midfielder Kylie Lamoureux who scored three goals, and Wofford commit McKenzie Moeller who had a team-high three assists along with one goal. Breezy Henke the UMass commit was once again stout in net, recording eight saves on 18 shots.

Coming up in January, South Side will be in action on the 3rd for a first round matchup against the SA 2024s at 7:15. Rocky Point kicks off their playoff run with a morning showdown against Smithtown East on January 7th at 8:30.
