Ward Melville Defeats Chaminade 6-3 in an Abbreviated Match

Two of Long Island’s storied programs faced off this past Sunday when Ward Melville faced off against Chaminade in the final pool play game of the HSWL before the start of the playoffs. The two teams entered this matchup both 2-0 looking for a potential first round bye going into the playoffs in January. This ended up being an abbreviated matchup that only saw one half be played which was won by Ward Melville by a score of 6-3. The win for the Patriots gives them a 3-0 record, but they do not have a first round bye due to losing tie breakers against the Friars 2025 and 2026 teams.

For the Flyers their three goals were scored by the Boston University commit Sean Connolly. Peter DeBusschere the Leigh commit and Syracuse commit Louis D’Agostino each tallied an assist.

On January 4th both teams will be in action for the first round of the playoffs where Chaminade will take on Syosset at 8:00pm, and Ward Melville will face Express 2027 at 9:30pm.
