The 2023 high school season has come to a close and now it’s time to look at this year’s senior class as they put a bow on their high school careers. At the conclusion of every season the LILJ selects one graduating player as the recipient of the Paumanok Award which is awarded to the most outstanding senior. The word “Paumanok” is the Native American name for Long Island, and winner of this prestigious award is someone who has demonstrated excellence as an individual which translated to team success throughout the course of the season while also showing to be a leader on and off the field. With so many players across the island in contention, the LILJ has narrowed it down to the 23 finalists in the Class of 2023 and the announcement of this year’s boys winner will be coming this week.
