Flyers 24 Secure 12-4 Win Over Smithtown West in High School Winter League


In a dominant display of lacrosse, the Flyers 24 team outplayed Smithtown West with a final score of 12-4 on Thursday, December 7, at the Stony Brook University Indoor Complex. The Flyers took control early in the game, leading 5-2 at halftime and continued their momentum to finish strong with a 7-goal second half.

For Smithtown West they saw notable performances from Dylan Frank, who scored 2 goals and provided 1 assist, and Tom Hyland, who contributed 1 goal. However, their efforts weren’t enough against the commanding play of Flyers.

Chaminade’s victory was marked by a balanced team effort. Notre Dame commit Gavin Lynch led the scoring with 3 goals, while Brian Knapp the Army commit and Connor Kuttin the Hopkins bound junior each added 2 goals and 1 assist. The defensive unit was equally strong, with goalkeepers Sal Caputo and Alexander Dircks making saves, recording save percentages of 66% and 50%, respectively. In a battle between two of the top face-off specialists on the island, the Penn commit Quinn Ball had the better evening over Towson commit Necco Cottage.

This game highlighted Chaminade’s elite core group of players as they look to make it back-to-back winter league championships.

Smithtown West comes back this Sunday where they will face the freshmen of Express at 9:15pm, and Chaminade will be back in action on December 17 against Ward Melville at 7:00pm.
